Guest guest
Dear All, Do any of you have any advice as to where to try to help my son with his visual processing? He is addicted to bubbles and water, especially a bath; he becomes very overstimulated by them his heart races his pupils dilate, his body contorts and he becomes very hyper active . He seeks them all day, and despite years of using them in a SonRise program he has never worked through it. I believe there are many strands to the puzzle, he is desperate for them when a bowel movement is brewing and also we can see in hind sight the OCD increases before a bout of illness and strep is an issue, we are addressing both (well trying to ) However they get a reaction where as other toys and activities don't. People assume he loves them but after 8 years I see it as an unhealthy attachment almost like a drug addict, it can take hours or a whole night to calm down. I try to manage the process as much as possible but don't feel I am helping him at all. We use HANDLE which has greatly helped in many ways but not with this piece. Wondering if I should try a behavioural optometrist, or another form of sensory integration therapy.Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
