Guest guest
I'll mail Harry who makes it and ask what he thinks Mx My last few batches of SCD yoghurt using CP1 have all not turned out well. I have been using CP1 as a starter for the last 2 to 3 years with no problem until recently.I cannot pinpoint what the problem is as I have tried 3 bottles of CP1 from different sources and I am still getting the same problem. I have changed the milk batches and even played around with the temperature settings and still no luck.Strangely, today I tried a small quantity of milk using L plantarum single strain also from Custom Probiotics and that seemed to work.has anyone come across this before? What other acidophilus starters can you recommend that I use? Thanks!

Guest guest
Perhaps Sandy could kindly remind us please what she found worked well as I know she tried out lots of different starters at one point? I am finding the CP1 yogurt's been more runny lately, but we've still been using it. I wonder whether they have changed the cultures or maybe there's been a problems with stability of the product? Guest guest
Hi Margaret, Actually we had a CP1 yoghurt recently that didn't work (but we were on holiday and the yoghurt maker was in a hot spot in a hot caravan). It was one of the very last capsules in a pot - all the other caps had made consistently good yoghurts. We use CP1 and have used a combination (1 each) of CP1 and culturelle in the past. Best wishes, Sandy > > > > I did make some a couple of weeks ago because I ran out of woodlands yogurt, and it did'nt make a good yogurt either!! I thought it was me. Guest guest
Thanks. I can't find a seller of the CP1 yogurt starter in the UK. Has anyone else found a seller here, please? Guest guest
Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. Not sure whats going wrong here. The last 3 weeks is the only time we've had inconsistent yoghurt in the 3 years we've been using CP1 as a starter. I tried another batch last night using L Plantarum and that has turned out fine again for the 2nd time. Maybe I should mix CP1 and L Plantarum next time as I have 3 full bottles sitting in my fridge! I noticed the CP1 yoghurt starter has S Therm in it, is it OK to use? Thanks! > > My last few batches of SCD yoghurt using CP1 have all not turned out well. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, Try Gut Doctor on 0. Its not listed on their website but am sure they can order it for you if you give them a call. They ordered the single strain L Plantarum for me a few weeks although its not listed on their site. Hope this helps. > > > > I spoke to Harry and he says nothing has changed in the formula and advised > > using their custom Yoghurt starter, I think gutdoctor.co.uk might sell > > those > > > > Mandi x > > > > > > In a message dated 02/07/2012 21:23:50 GMT Daylight Time, > > sandrabarrett@ writes: > > > > > > > > > > I did make some a couple of weeks ago because I ran out of woodlands > > yogurt, and it did'nt make a good yogurt either!! Guest guest
Hi Angelle, Just realised you are using the yoghurt starter (I didn't know they made this) http://www.customprobiotics.com/custom-probiotics-adult-formula-cp-1.htm we are using the Custom CP1 capsules (we use 1 or 2 per litre of goat milk) http://www.mandimart.co.uk/custom-probiotics-cp1-90-capsules-227-p.asp (this one doesn't contain strep therm). I wonder (just a thought) if the warmer weather has been having an effect - not that it's been much of a summer - but we find our yoghurts go faster in warmer weather and the more they " go " the runnier they get. Guest guest
I have two electric yogurt makers and one of them is hotter than the other. The yogurt in the hotter one is more problematic and tend to separate or curdle. It is better if I separate the container with the milk in it from the heated base by placing several lids under the container and also by not fitting the lid on the base properly to allow some heat to escape. Yes I think you are right - the yogurt is better in the Winter when the kitchen is cold. Margaret > > > > > > My last few batches of SCD yoghurt using CP1 have all not turned out > well. Guest guest
Yes definitely - we put a straw mat between and even tried wrapping the glass jar (we only used the outer dome on the lakeland machine we had - not the inner lid) - we got better creamy, set yogourt but eventually that did for the yogourt machine as it overheated also tried making the milk hotter/cooler when the starter went in the trouble is I can't remember which was better (cooler probably). I have the Lakeland machine too and have always just used natural yoghurt or yoghurt from the last batch as a starter. You have got me thinking now. Is CP1 better and if so,why? Many thanks, .
