Guest guest
No, in Guilford. (hemispheres.org.uk). I also found in google another lady in Putney who works with brain gym independantly (not an OT), I didn't write down her details. Not sure if any good. Guest guest
Indeed and he is going to be playing adult reserves for Wimborne Town first team and the play weekly in under 18's and he is only 16 WTFC plays in Southern League He didn't have to do the BG long, was very hard at first but worked a treat alongside sorting out retained primitive reflexes of which he had them all Mx That is very encouraging !! Guest guest
Hi Isobel I googled brain gym specialists (or something like that) and there was a list of people in the UK. It is then that I saw there is a lady in Putney. As I wasn't interested I didn't write her details down. I will try to find again, it shouldn't be hard. I am not sure what was the combination of words I used to get that website. I don't know why but her website didn't appeal to me maybe because she doesn't mention special needs. The lady that I talked to in the Hemisphere said that based on the assessment they describe the exercises. She said you can log in and see your exercises been done by someon, once they put you in their system. I sounds interesting. They see first which reflexes are missing and go from there. You need to do 15 min a day, everyday. I am not sure. Re: Any experience with Brain Gym. please? Hi vilma. Guest guest
Hi Vilma, Yes I did brain gym through a local kinesiologist when my daughter was 3. At that time she was totally unable to speak and the language unit was telling me that she would never talk as she was not responding to the speech therapy. Within 2 weeks of doing the energy yawn, she could open her mouth on demand and leave it open to brush her teeth. Her speech snowballed after this. The langauge unit wanted to know what I had done and when I said Brain Gym, they then photocopied the teacher manual for me as the school that the unit was attached to did Brain Gym. You can buy the Teacher's Manual on Amazon for £16.95. I was later told that Brain Gym works on a higher level to the reflexes and that it is preferable to do reflex work first - INPP. I did the INPP programme when my daughter was 5 as she had retained reflexes - there were loads more improvements then as well. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi > > > > > > I am looking for an OT in Wandsworth area. Guest guest
Hi,We are going to Hemisheres in Lightwater and I feel that this has helped my son. Sometimes it is difficult to pinpoint where progress is coming from when you are doing Biomed as well, but certainly my son is making progress. Hemispheres was recommended to us by someone who had taken their child there and seen good results. After the initial assessment you are given a set of exercises to repeat daily with your child at home. This takes about 15mins per day. Our exercises have been changed at each meeting ( depending on your childs progress and needs. ) The therapist we see is very optimistic that so much can be done to help children with autism and I believe she is sincere. Guest guest
Hi, I went to a lady that did some brain gym with Charlie, she charged £30 per session. I only did a few. She gave me exercises to do, which I did, I honestly don't know if they helped significantly but they cant harm. The massage thing was good. It's all about crossing left and right sides of the brain, as far as I remember so any sport is good. A boy at Charlie's school had alot of aggression and behaviour problems and his Mum did brain gym every day and he improved alot which is why I tried it, however Charlie didn't have the same problems so I thought I'd pick up the basics and do it myself. £350 sounds like alot of money for something quite simple ( in terms of autism treatment). Guest guest
I have tried with my son, although I didn't use any specialist. MY OT helped me to start. Some videos if you want to try. But that is really expensive, I think if you pay 500 pounds or so You can do the course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1 & v=WpSBTVFgK0Y & feature=fvwp http://igreen.tripod.com/gerpe/id29.html > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi > > > > > > > > I am looking for an OT in Wandsworth area.
