DH went to hug me tonight and I yelped, surprising both of us! He asked what was wrong and I said, "Pec pain!"

LOL I'm sure he was impressed by the pushups alone. The pain is a sign of hard work.

ok, so this is my problem. i like using heavy weights (for me),

and i dont mind a bit of doms... but i DO get incapacitated...

ugh!! i just dont seem to have the mental fortitude to

function with the pain every single day. this is why i had to

stop doing CLX.... i was really looking forward to the day when i

could wake up and my whole body didnt hurt any more. so my

question is how do you deal with this? maybe you are going to

say that i needed to rest more between workouts, but if i waited

for the doms to go away, i would hardly be working out at all.

so i decided to give up on the heavy weights. heck, im sore in

the right arm, shoulder, chest and core merely from playing WII

Tennis yesterday! LOL. so it is more of having mental

mind-over-body strength i guess.

I know what you're saying, Carolyn and I understand about the conflict between waiting for the DOMS to go away and then not working out too. I'm feeling my leg workout from yesterday today and the DOMS from Friday's chest & triceps workout was finally fading on Monday. Right now, I'm in a place where I'm seeing it as a victory, proud of myself that I pushed myself hard and it isn't making me too crazy most of the time. Other times, I'm less positive. I'm not sure if I were doing a 3 month rotation, like CLX, and it was constant if I'd be able to be so positive about it because it can wear you down too. I think it is mental attitude, probably, more than anything and, like I say, I'm in a place where I like it but that might not last.

I also think that it isn't necessary to push yourself into that position if it is mostly wearing you down and you're not feeling good about it! If other activities, that don't cause a lot of DOMS make you feel good then I'd say just keep on doing those because all activity is valuable, especially if you're doing it for fun, to maintain or improve health or lose or maintain weight. I've got a specific goal to build up strength and to see if heavy lifting/low reps gets me greater definition. I'm probably also going to do a light weight/high rep rotation to see what that does too in terms of my goals and am curious to see what the DOMS might be like with that too. I just realized too that I'm also doing a body-part rotation right now so only some parts of my body hurt instead of everything at once so that might be making a difference in my attitude (maybe that would work for you too, if you were even inclined to do that kind of workouts).

Those Wii workouts, by the way, sneak up on you! You're having fun and not thinking much about it and then wake up sore wondering what the heck happened! :-)

Hi Carolyn,

Just wanted to chime in that I agree w/ - no need to cause yourself agony to get a good workout in. Over the years I have gotten to the point where i can't stand being in pain, and my "gentler" workouts seem to be suiting me a lot better so far. I still feel worked out, and I'm more motivated to be consistent, which is probably more important than going all out once or twice a week and then taking a bunch of days off to recover.

What are the best wii games to purchase? Also is there any advantage to waiting for the new edition to come out vs. the current edition. Supposedly there is a new one coming out this year. Do new wii's use old wii games or does one have to purchase different ones.
