Guest guest
Cool!! I have the workout calendar, I think Jen actually posted it a long while ago and I saved it for "just in case!" Hmmm... will have to look at my collection of obscure rubber exercise equipment that I never use and see if I do have something like the thigh toner. Yes, I'm getting the entire basic set for only B & G!!!! Unbelievable but true! She said she'd want "a Cathe" from it and had a couple on her list that I had. I pm'ed her to offer B & G sure she'd want more than just "a Cathe" for it but sure enough, that's what she wanted! I almost screamed when I read the message accepting my offer, I was so floored and excited! I've loved reading about the results you and Stacey have gotten from it and am thrilled to be joining the club! I saw your other note about rest days and doing all the strength workouts too, thanks for the tips! I'm not sure when I'll start it, I want to preview the workouts and look at the times of them all and the schedule to see how it will work with my schedule plus, like I said, I'm really liking my January rotation so I'm not sure I want to start right away but I'm also sooooo excited... decisions, decisions... Re: CLX You don't need the guide, just the workout calendar The thing toner I'm sure you already have, it's one of those pilates ribbon things that come free with a lot of workouts. If you had to you could use resistance tubing instead, I think. You're getting the entire basic set just for B & G? That's a super swap !Stacey and I got great results from CLX! I got a lot stronger, that's for sure! Consistency is key. The workouts might seem boring after awhile but keep at it, as is on the calendar. That's how you get results! Have fun! I hope this is readable, I'm trying a new font... I'm also trying to control myself here but... someone on VF is sending me the basic CLX discs!!! It is a trade and I'm giving her Butts & Guts. I know I haven't done it yet but I got it on a whim in another trade in which I was excited to be getting rid of whatever workout I gave up (I don't even know what now) and was excited to get another Cathe strength workout even though I knew nothing about it at the time. Meanwhile, I've been wanting CLX since it came out and just can't afford it so, while I had to think about it a little, I quickly decided it was a no-brainer. I don't have the discs in my hot little hands yet, but am hoping to have it later this week though. This may change my entire winter rotation schedule since I want to do heavy weights (this month anyway) and this would probably be perfect! I'll have to think about it though because I was getting really excited about my January plan and preliminary plans for February and March. Only hang-up is there's no guide with it. I do have the worksheets (from links posted in EV I think) and I think I have a rotation schedule too. Should I try to get a guide somewhere? I don't care about the nutrition info since I'll follow my own regular plan. Also, I don't know if I have tubing with handles, if I want to use regular stretchy bands, would those be good enough? I also don't have a clue what the "thigh toner band" is. Is there some way I can make that myself or should I find a way to get one? Any suggestions, advice, help will be so appreciated. I read all about this when you all first got really excited about it but it has been a while and I don't remember as much as I'd like. Thank you!! Guest guest
Hi !I think the CLX workouts are relatively short - so probably really good for you! I'd say stick w/ your Cathe rotation since you put so much into it and save CLX for Feb. It will be here before you know it!I have wanted to do CLX on and off, but I'm scared of it b/c a lot of people say it is tough on the back - and I really don't want to mess myself up..... Guest guest
yeah Chalene said you can sub out the cardio workouts for other cardio workouts, the strength ones are the important ones to stick to. You can't really sub out the strength ones because unlike most strength dvd's, these all hit areas in an almost uneven kinda of way - together and used in the rotation they balance each other perfectly, but if you did say Push 1 and then a Cathe the next time it wouldn't work. They are sort of " exclusive' that way if that makes sense. You'll see what I mean when you watch them. And the extra dvd's outside the basic set are nice to have, sure, but really all you need is what's in that basic set. Have fun!   Thanks Donna! Guest guest
Hi Donna, when I did CLX last year my back hurt but I think it was because the workouts were new to me and they were compound moves. If you use lighter weights until you get used to the moves you should be ok. And remember to bend your knees whenever lifting something...I'm sure you all ready know that. Guest guest
I probably will do the cardio workouts. I haven't looked at them yet to see what they're like though. I'll use weights for as long as I can because I prefer weights but I'm discovering that I'm outgrowing my 15s (the heaviest I have) for some exercises and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get heavier ones. My back-up plan is to use bands when feel like 15s are not heavy enough. I don't have any stretchy bands used for pilates but I do have a lot of stretchy bands from various workouts ( and others). It looks like one of those that is just knotted to make it shorter. Would that work for the thigh toner? Re: CLX , are you going to do the cardio workouts too? Guest guest
Great to know about the bands & tubing, ! Thank you1 I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this program works for me. I'm not sure when I'll start though, I want to get this pinched nerve completely over with first. No workout for me yesterday or today. Yesterday was busy and then I was going to do cardio but then I was afraid to because of my dumb foot then I just did who knows how many loads of laundry (at least 8, including all the bedding) and was going up and down the stairs to the basement all day and evening and then my foot really hurt later. I figure I got my cardio in going up & down the stairs with full laundry baskets though! ;-) Then I didn't sleep at all last night (just worried about the foot, DH's stomach is acting up and I was worried about that and it was Sunday night going into full blast New Year's Resolution season at WW). Woke up soooo tired I figured I'd try to get S & H Legs in later today and now that hasn't happened. I'm frustrated and disappointed but am deliberately and guilt-free giving myself a pass again for tomorrow. Facing those 5:45 workouts is just too much this week plus I'll be gone from 8-8 tomorrow with an hour for dinner and that's it. Wednesday, though, I can workout later and longer and will probably at least do S & H Legs then plus maybe some core. I'm seeing the chiropractor in between work assignments tomorrow, I hope she can help with my foot too. It is getting better but sure isn't 100% yet. Okay, done whining, gotta get back to getting stuff ready for tomorrow. Re: CLX , are you going to do the cardio workouts too? Why don't you use weights instead of bands? Guest guest
Hi Donna, Thank you!! It is doing a lot better, I think the rest has helped and the change to my orthotics has probably helped the most. I am going in again tomorrow for another check and probably another adjustment to them. I saw the chiro yesterday and it just happened my back was really bothering me too so it was a good thing for that (it's been bothering me off & on lately). She adjusted me and it felt better. She checked my feet too and adjusted them as well (weird but true) and I couldn't believe how much better they both felt when she was done! I'll see her again next week, especially because of my back. I still had a little bit of pain in my foot last night but for at least the last two nights I haven't woken up with any pain so that is really good. I'm going to go back to exercising today, doing Slow & Heavy Legs and probably a core workout too. I'll report on it after I do it. Re: CLX Hi , I'm sorry your foot is still bugging you - you are smart to lay off it for awhile, sometimes rest is the best medicine. I hope the chiropractor can find something the other docs have missed to make you feel better. ((HUGS)) Donna I hope this is readable, I'm trying a new font... Thank you!! Guest guest
Hmmm... never heard of that. The change to my orthotics seems to be doing the most good (he gave me stiffer ones, giving my feet more support). The chiro did adjust my feet (along with my back) and it felt great. If the situation does not continue to improve I'll ask the chiro about this. By the way, she's a runner and I specifically chose to go to her because I knew that and knew she'd be able to help me with athletic issues if I need it! :-) Re: CLX , you might want to have your chiro try using kinesio tape on your foot. It always helps me when Dr. No does that, it takes pressure off the ouchy places. Might not work for your situation but it doesn't hurt to ask... Guest guest
Happy Happy!I walked 8 miles yesterday to get to Kaiser, then took the bus home.Today I decided to start back with CLX, just the strength workouts. I'll do bike/walking instead of the CLX cardio. I will also do yoga. The first workouts are shorter, and I thought it would be a really great way to break back in. I'll see how this goes. If progress is slow, I might do the whole 3 month thing. If I progress faster, then I think I'll just do 2 weeks of each circuit and move on. I did Burn Circuit 1 today. I used super light weights, and did 10 reps instead of 12. The only problem I had was with the push ups. That prone position still irritates my head, but it didn't lead to anything worse than an irritated feeling and increased ringing in my ears. It's going to feel scary to get into those bending-forward/prone positions for a while. Next time I'll do inclined push ups using my ropes or using the STS tower.I'm so glad I won't have to sell off my DVD collection & gear, at least not yet. Happy, HAPPY workouts!
