great to hear from you! Love the bikeI would look at bike store or performance bikes bike nashbar online for the following1) I use biking shorts when I bike outside for long periods. you could pick up a a couple. They call it gaining you "saddle" in that in awhile a short hour ride on seat won't bother you2) you can buy gel seats to cover the bikeas far as shoes you can buy cycling shoes. again I would go to bike store but does you bike have clips or shoe cages? I would get clip pedals and clip into your bike. this way you can use the full pedal motion (the pull up)bike shoes are lite but have solid hard soles so you can transfer your power to pedal easier.more

I can't remember the last time I posted here, but hello again!

I got laid off in July, and while you'd think that would make working out easier (more off time), I've found myself with LESS time, because now I have no excuse not to do all the errands, shopping, laundry, cooking, more time with my son (we cut back on his daycare), and so on. I found my iron and figured out how to use it! (sheesh)

I think there was a bit of mild depression in there somewhere, too, but we're budgeting and figuring out how to make our household expenses work on one salary, so I don't feel like such a leech. In the meantime, my husband is going through a rough patch health wise, as he developed a bone spur in his heel and that resulted in a very painful tendon injury around his ankle. So no running for him. But what this meant was, we got a spin bike, thanks to my mother in law and her very generous Christmas money.

We got a LeMond spin bike, the yellow classic one, used but impressively refurbished, for around $400 including delivery. Which leads to my questions about the seat on those things - why are they so uncomfortable?! Does anyone have any recommendations on seat cushions? Men and women have obviously different needs in that department, so would we be able to get seat that would help both of us? At the moment I'm thinking I have more problems with the seat than my husband. Also, is there such a thing as a "shell" shoe with clips? My brother, who used to be an avid cyclist, told that there is a very light, almost Vibram-y type of shoe out there that's basically just a covering for your feet. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I use regular sneakers and had no issues but my husband has it in his head that he needs a proper spin shoe with clips.

Thanks in advance for any insight into this as I've never used a real spin bike before. Now I HAVE to take a shower - I'm getting back into working out on a regular schedule and just finished Turbo Kick round 40, and I stink! :)

Have a good rest of the week everyone!

Namiko, I was wondering about you!  Thanks for the update! I'm very sorry to hear you were laid off and I know that would put me into a depression.  HUGS.  I hope you can find work again soon and will keep you in my thoughts!

I love my spin bike, and yes the first couple of rides will result in a sore bum afterward.  However, after that you will be just fine.  At the gym I like to clip in but on my own spin bike at home I'm fine with the cages.  My cycling shoes aren't very comfortable.

If you do any spinning workout videos, please review them!  With RPM,
