Guest guest
Hi Lis I spoke to Dr.G P.A today about this very subject as i had heard throw the "garpevine" that the nurses were pretty poor and said they had employed a really good Irish nurse to take the blood draw, she couldnt remember her name though but told me to phone biolab direct to find out if she was working next Monday (which is when we are due to see Dr G) so i did they told me her name is Hannah, so just phone ahead and make sure she is there on the day you need blood taken. x CC: lisharrison@...To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: lisharrison@...Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2012 22:00:43 +0100Subject: Nurse at biolab HelloFollowing a very negative experience with one of the nurses at biolab about 3 weeks ago I made a complaint. It had already been mentioned that this nurse was not good with our kids and I had been advised to go to the nice place around the corner the have the blood draw. Because Josh is happy having his bloods taken I didn't think it would be necessary and I also wanted to make my own judgements.Unfortunately as warned the nurse was bloody awful. She got offended because I had already applied Emla cream and refused the numbing spray. She told me not to apply the cream again because the numbing spray was fine. I told her that Josh has a routine and that I Knew the Emla cream definitely worked so would prefer to use it in the future. She then got cross and said, ''I don't know what you all think I do to the children in here''. Josh then asked me if he could watch the blood being taken and I told him that when he was a little bit older he could ( i knew watching would upset him). The nurse then told me that it was not up to me if Josh could watch and that it was josh's decision. She then said to Josh ''of course you can watch''!! I then told her that I knew what was best for MY son and that her job was to take the blood NOT to parent MY child.Anyway I am now feeling very happy and smug as i have just received the response below to my complaint. Hopefully we won't have to put up with someone who has no idea how to work with ASD kids anymore :-)!* Dear Mrs on, I have been following up on your unfortunate experience with the nurse at Biolab. I have spoken with management to raise our concerns on your behalf and they have made some positive changes. Biolab has recruited an additional nurse specifically to cater for our patients and assure us that they have taken our patients comments into account. Biolab try to specifically use paediatric nurses whenever possible for our patients. Biolab has also introduced both numbing spray and cream as parents had previously requested. Please do keep us informed if there are issues and we will try to resolve on your behalf. Sincerely, Fatma MansabService Director
Guest guest
That's good . Sounds like loads of us have had problems with her. I just really didn't want that awful woman reflecting badly on Dr G when he has worked so hard to set up privately. I also didn't want her getting away with it!It sounds like they have got it covered though and are listening to us parents which is great!Lis x Hi Lis I spoke to Dr.G P.A today about this very subject as i had heard throw the "garpevine" that the nurses were pretty poor and said they had employed a really good Irish nurse to take the blood draw, she couldnt remember her name though but told me to phone biolab direct to find out if she was working next Monday (which is when we are due to see Dr G) so i did they told me her name is Hannah, so just phone ahead and make sure she is there on the day you need blood taken. x CC: lisharrison@...To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: lisharrison@...Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2012 22:00:43 +0100Subject: Nurse at biolab HelloFollowing a very negative experience with one of the nurses at biolab about 3 weeks ago I made a complaint. It had already been mentioned that this nurse was not good with our kids and I had been advised to go to the nice place around the corner the have the blood draw. Guest guest
Does Biolab in London do the blood tests themselves ? When I asked about H & B, they said that they need to send it to The London Clinic for which their will be an additional £15 sample handling fee.VarunTo: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: lisharrison@...Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2012 22:22:50 +0100Subject: Re: Nurse at biolab That's good . Guest guest
Dr G told me to always go to the one round the corner. In fact he took us himself. Better rates and better nurses :0) Kirstyx
Guest guest
Curious to know which lab it is round the corner as I am yet to see any of the labs competing in terms of price with Breakspear. There seems to be a location premium with the labs based in London even though most of the tests done by Breakspear were actually conducted in the same London labs.VarunTo: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: greenkirsty1@...Date: Tue, 10 Jul 2012 14:24:53 +0100Subject: Re: Nurse at biolab Dr G told me to always go to the one round the corner. Guest guest
I can vouch for them too, TDL (The Doctors Lab) Our DS very difficult to get blood from, not because of behaviour but deep, thin veins. They were only the second people ever to get a draw other than when he was under a GA for something else. Nurses were very understanding as well as good. The Biolab took a look for his veins and wouldn't even try, by the sound of it a lucky escape To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: greenkirsty1@...Date: Tue, 10 Jul 2012 14:24:53 +0100Subject: Re: Nurse at biolab Dr G told me to always go to the one round the corner. Guest guest
Hi! TDL is the best for me.We used to go to Biolab, there was only one nurse at that time..Then I started going to TDL..Their staff are very experienced, comforting. If we need to do blood test again, I would go there, no doubt.. nevin > > > I can vouch for them too, TDL (The Doctors Lab) Our DS very difficult to get blood from, not because of behaviour but deep, thin veins.
