Are EFA’s the same as giving omega oil? I was advised

to increase EFA’s. but he is already taking omega. So do I need to add

anything?

Ideally you want to check blood levels of the various EFAs and correct for imbalances. Genova have a test for this. There are various omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9 oils. The ones you are typically trying to replace are the anti-inflammatory omega 3 ones which are now virtually absent from farmed beef and fish which constitute the majority of many peoples protein intake. The best book on this is still Udo Erasmus's Fats that Heal and Fats that Kill. I give a basic overview of this area for ASD in my book on diet. There is a more recent Cochrane collaboration review of the evidence.Hope this helps,Ken To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Sent: Friday, 6 July 2012, 14:00 Subject: Re: EFA
