HelloFollowing a very negative experience with one of the nurses at biolab about 3 weeks ago I made a complaint. It had already been mentioned that this nurse was not good with our kids and I had been advised to go to the nice place around the corner the have the blood draw. Because Josh is happy having his bloods taken I didn't think it would be necessary and I also wanted to make my own judgements.Unfortunately as warned the nurse was bloody awful. She got offended because I had already applied Emla cream and refused the numbing spray. She told me not to apply the cream again because the numbing spray was fine. I told her that Josh has a routine and that I Knew the Emla cream definitely worked so would prefer to use it in the future. She then got cross and said, ''I don't know what you all think I do to the children in here''. Josh then asked me if he could watch the blood being taken and I told him that when he was a little bit older he could ( i knew watching would upset him). The nurse then told me that it was not up to me if Josh could watch and that it was josh's decision. She then said to Josh ''of course you can watch''!! I then told her that I knew what was best for MY son and that her job was to take the blood NOT to parent MY child.Anyway I am now feeling very happy and smug as i have just received the response below to my complaint. Hopefully we won't have to put up with someone who has no idea how to work with ASD kids anymore :-)!* Dear Mrs on, I have been following up on your unfortunate experience with the nurse at Biolab. I have spoken with management to raise our concerns on your behalf and they have made some positive changes. Biolab has recruited an additional nurse specifically to cater for our patients and assure us that they have taken our patients comments into account. Biolab try to specifically use paediatric nurses whenever possible for our patients. Biolab has also introduced both numbing spray and cream as parents had previously requested. Please do keep us informed if there are issues and we will try to resolve on your behalf. Sincerely, Fatma MansabService Director
