Guest guest
Oh, Dennis, I am so very sorry to hear about Betty's illness. How frightening that would be to find your loved one in such a situation. What a strain on you and everybody in the family - I can only imagine. My heart goes out to you. I hope that the doctors are able to get her blood sugar under control, and treat her pneumonia. I don't understand either why you don't qualify for the indigent program? It goes against you because she is your wife, you live together, and she does not work. What does that say for the homemakers in Texas who don't work, and what would happen, if they needed this type of help? That is just so wrong. I hope that there is some way that you can get some medical assistance for your wife, Dennis, and please know that I will be praying for you both. Guest guest
Dennis: I am glad that you were able to take Betty home - hospitals are no place for sick people! She is much better off at home in your care. I am sorry to hear that you strained your back and arm, and hope that you will be feeling better soon too. I hope that you are able to get the financial situation straightened out. Take care, and prayers are coming your way! Guest guest
Thanks, Kathe, but my injuries were my buttock muscles and leg muscles. My left arm was bruised from elbow to wrist from having to snake it under her in the attempt to get her up. I do have a question, something I can't explain at all. She has always had a tendency to put on pounds but did very well for about 20 years, then her body started producing more fat. She and I would go on a diet together and she would gain while I would lose 10#. She was in the doctor's office on Monday of last week and weighed an amount (I won't tell), and by the time she got out of the hospital, she had gained 13#! That's 5 days time and almost no food. How could that happen? I can understand part of it since they were running her IV drip at full speed, 999. Normal is about 200. She was low on sodium, so they did those full speed iv's to catch her up. She's comfortable at home and I'm serving her every whim. That's the way we do each other anyhow, so it's second nature to us. Guest guest
Dennis: You sound like a great husband - my hubby and I are the same way - we take care of each other. I would guess that your wife is gaining water weight rather than poundage - does she have any edema at all? That is a great difference in weight, but it could have been from the IV drip and putting the fluids back into her. When we ladies get older, it is harder for us to loose weight - something to do with menopause and hormones I think. Just keep encouraging her in her diet attempts, eat healthy with her, and hopefully she can loose some weight. I am sure it would be better on her joints and her body to do so. I should really take my own advice here lol - I try, but it is harder to loose now than it was when I was younger. Take care of your wife, and don't forget to take time for yourself too so you don't flare up too badly - Healing Prayers coming for both of you - Kathe in CA __________________________________________________
