I'm not sure. I have flat feet though and they are very prone to pinched nerves for some reason.

OUCH I hope the pain goes away soon!Remember to ice it every night Jen>> sometimes they turn out good and sometimes it looks like I'm stoned.>> you had better stop hanging out in the bathrooms at laurelhurst> park then....heehee> i love reading about your running adventures. not much action> happening on my walks to report so im boring (except that chinook> almost got skunked on saturday)> :*carolyn.>>> ------------------------------------>>

Yeah, I have to start doing that (tomorrow, going to bed now). I was just reading too that impact exercise can also cause it, especially if you have flat feet, and will exacerbate it. I exercised long and hard (really hard) on it before I knew what it was... boy I hope I didn't mess myself up too badly. I'm really sick of this pain. Going to bed, gotta work tomorrow, will ice it tomorrow though...

Aw . I hope you were able to sleep. What is pinching the nerve exactly? Is there inflammation? It sounds like it if they want you to ice it. Is this tarsal tunnel syndrome? You have my sympathy. I had 3 years of problems with my left ankle for different reasons. I'm so glad to be rid of that pain. I hope yours clears up much faster than that.

Hi ,

Thank you, again...

I had a visit with my podiatrist yesterday and actually saw one of his associates instead. He was also very good. The pain had returned, but not as badly as before, so that was positive. I told him about my experience with the last shot. He could see the bruise was still there and moved away from that site for another shot this week. He also felt my foot and said it was still pretty swollen and that the area that is affected is actually pretty large. Great. He said the usual procedure is 4 weeks of steroid shots (did that once before and it seemed to work then didn't so we're doing it again). Then, if that doesn't work, but it usually does he said, they switch to some kind of alcohol shot or something like that for 4 weeks and if that doesn't work then the next step is the s word... surgery and they remove the pinched nerve. I'm hoping this works. He suggested I ice it at night too and I keep forgetting to do that. Will have to start tomorrow.

He said the shot last week was very close to the nerve, that's why it hurt so much and because it hurt as much as it did, he did this week's away from that area but said it should still help. He said they could put it right into the nerve but then it would hurt even worse than last week's did (I was sure it had been put right into the nerve it hurt so badly, I can't imagine what that would be really like). This week's wasn't nearly like that and my foot only stayed numb for a day, not 2 or 3 and no bruising or other pain around the injection site. It was only yesterday though so we'll see what tonight's sleep brings (it hurts worse at night which I was also told is normal). Last night it was numb and felt fine to sleep. I think I'm going to try and workout starting Tuesday. I'm glad I got KCM's Start Here. I traded something for it but wasn't sure it would be good for me. Little did I know how good it might be for me. I'm thinking I'll do the weights workout Tuesday, the cardio Wednesday, the weights Thursday and then possibly both Friday or just do the weights again and see how it goes...

I'll keep you all informed. At least the pain I was having around my scar on my chest isn't bothering me too much anymore so that's a very positive thing. I'll see what doing Start Here weight workout does to that on Tuesday and then move on from there.

Cautiously moving forward,

Hi ,

It is a lot better right now (hoping it continues). I'm not really sure what is pinching it, there is inflammation too. It isn't tarsal tunnel syndrome, it is called Morton's Neuroma. I have flat feet and apparently that puts me at higher risk for developing it. Three years of problems, ugh! It has been probably a year that this has been bothering me but it was off and on for a long time, then got much worse so I called the podiatrist and he's been treating it for about 2 months. It is improved(but not totally gone) since my last cortisone injection Thursday so I'm starting to be hopeful again.

,

I've had surgery for Morton's Neuroma. It wasn't too bad, a they go in from the

top of the foot. I had two nerves cut for one operation. My 3rd toe is kind-of

numb now, but it was a small price to pay for getting rid of that horrible pain.

I occasionally get twinges in my other foot, too, and worry that it might be

starting there! - But so far, so good! Morton's neuroma is also associated with

Morton's toe, which I also have! I've had a total of 4 foot operations -- left

and right bunions, right neuroma and left plantar fascia release... All have

gone text-book perfect.

Wow, Indy! That's a lot of foot problems! I'm glad to hear you got good results though, I've been very nervous about the prospect of surgery if the shots don't work, both the recovery and the idea of numb toes. I haven't heard of Morton's toe (of course, I'd never heard of Morton's Neuroma before this either). So far, surgery isn't being discussed as an option, but I know it is out there, we're trying everything else first. Thanks for telling me about this though, I'll let you know what happens here!

, feel better soon. Hugs. I hate foot pain. Does anyone know anything about metatarsal pain and how to get rid of it? The ball of my foot has been hurting really bad. The history behind it started when I started doing barre workouts maybe a year ago. One night when traveling I did it barefoot at a motel on the floor. When I go up on my toes it ends up being the ball of my foot. The pressure made it start hurting originally. It would swell up and cause pain when I take steps or stand on it. Eventually I stopped doing barre. T-tapp seemed to help heal the site. Fast forward to current days. After the hysterectomy I was walking, marching, jogging inside the house to try to speed up healing barefoot. (I tend to workout barefoot except when it

hurts) I don't have the strength or balance to jog outside due to the MS, but Inside the house I am ok going up and down the hallway as the walls catch me if I trip or loose my balance. Eventually the higher impact caught up with my foot. It has been hurting about a month now with swelling in the ball of the foot. Now when I do my leslie workouts I have to wear shoes due to the pain at the metatarsals. I hate going to doctors. Does anyone know of non-medical ways of dealing with issues like this? Also my lower back has been out of alignment since the surgery. It protrudes on one side of my butt, lower hip area further than the other side. They really messed it up bug time. I am going to do classical stretch and yoga today in hopes that it will stop hurting. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!

No ideas here about the foot pain, for the back I'd definitely consider seeing a chiropractor (no drugs, no surgery at least).
