Guest guest
its monday pm and im finally getting around to posting a workout that i did on saturday am! first i did 20 min 'powerfit plus: cardio kick', led by stephanie huckabee, which is an easy floor aerobics workout. stephanie is a nice instructor... pleasant, cued well, looked great, and was in no way intimidating. the only thing that i didnt like about it was stephanie's habit of telling me to 'listen up' whenever she was adding on or changing something. i know that this phrase is a habit from her years at the firm (other firm instructors like emily welsh say it too) but it sounded a little rude to me, especially because she said it so much. after that i got inspired by nancy and got out the ab glider. from kneeling, i did 15 reps straight-ahead, then 15 reps on an angle to the left, then 15 reps on an angle to the right. i was surprised at how far down i could go, but while i had my abs tight, i quickly felt my lower back say hello. adjusted my form to have more of what felt like a C curve in my back (instead of an S), which was probably more like neutral (i need to place a mirror on the floor to see next time, which will be very helpful). this felt alot better and i did another set of 15/15/15. that sounds like alot, but this ab glider thingy that i have is much easier than the one or two-wheeled ab roller. i used to have a one-wheeler and it was pretty much impossible. nancy i suggest that you use a wall as a stopper for your two-wheeler, especially at first. im going to try that with the glider too, using tape marks on the floor to see my progression ok, so that felt good and i moved onto yoga... 'essential flow yoga for everybody: good morning' - 20 minutes. voiced-over by barbara benaugh and demonstrated by a very slim young man, who was minimally clothed and freakishly flexibly in the upper body. no sun salutations which was expected due to it being 'flow yoga' and a 'good morning' routine! see http://www.amazon.ca/Essential-Flow-Yoga-Every-Body/dp/B000GNOGTW the cover is very misleading! there is no woman in a white outfit and there is no beach! it is actually a very plain setting, just with that guy and barbara's boring voice... ugh! also the poses were very basic... it was like an instructional for beginners. i didnt like it. now that it is a few days later, im feeling my core and chest from using the ab glider! so i need to do some more of that... i like finding ab workouts that dont seem to hurt my upper back or neck! i have physio tomorrow, but still want to get a workout in. too cold and windy to walk, but maybe i will dust off the elliptical ! :*carolyn.
