You might ask your rheumy about Leucovorin. That's what my rheumy has me take instead of Folic Acid. Leucovorin is Folinic Acid, and I take 10mgs weekly, at the same time I take my MTX. (Although, I'm not sure if Leucovorin is on Medicare's formulary or not.) I do also get a little Folic Acid daily in my multi-vitamin. dordale
Guest guest
, I am in the same boat as you are in. I called medicare and they told me, it would only cost 30.00 every three months. Well that is all fine and good but to me 30.00 is a lot of money. So my choices are to either pay it or give up the metho and really suffer. I just had to give up predisone, so I am in a good place. I am taking your advise and call my Congressman when I get home. I have eye surgery today, no big deal I hope. I will let you know what he says. Thanks for the information. Guest guest
In the town where I live, we have something called the health care network, that help out low income families. I was able to get my syringes for my MXT from them. These kinds of organizations are never advertised, ask you doctor perhaps there is something like this near you, I agree medicare should pay, but I also know you still need them, after all, you can't drink the stuff!!! in WI Ruf-Caimi <ruf-caimi@...> wrote: , I just found out today that Medicare will not pay for the needles I need. Guest guest
, So sorry to hear that Medicare won't pay for the needles you need...Yet, illegal drug users get all the free needles they want. Go figure. Is there anyway that you could get the injections at your Rheumies office? If that is a possibility then your rheumy can bill Medicare for you and that way you won't have to pay for the needles, just a thought. Please let me know what happens. This is for everyone: Whether you are on Medicare Part D or not, please take the time to call your congressmen and senators let them know that it is not right that drug addicts get free needles to inject themselves with illegal drugs when many people can't afford the LEGAL medications and med supplies they need to help fight thier illnesses. We have to take a very active role now because this year is an election year and they will listen. We need to let them know that Medicare needs to be changed and unless they do their part to change and improve it they won't get our vote. After the election they won't care. Thank you for letting me vent, but it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. Believe me, I will be a nice, but very squeaky wheel. Take care, Hugs Ruf-Caimi <ruf-caimi@...> wrote: , I just found out today that Medicare will not pay for the needles I need. Guest guest
Actually, , with MTX, you 'can drink the stuff'. Until I went above .8 cc, I was drinking it in orange juice. Above that level, it doesn't absorb as well, so it must be injected. The needles I use cost $0.13 each, and I use one per week. How do the druggies get them? Maybe you can go to the same place. In some European countries, they are handed out everywhere to make sure they use a clean one every time. I don't know about injectable Folic, though, I haven't heard of it. Guest guest
The problem is Dennis that the druggies get them at government sponsored agencies and share them. We have to pay through the nose to give legal substances but the illegal users get them free...go figure. I have to pay about 27 cents each for my son's insulin syringes and he uses about 5-6 a day. I need to shop where you are! Shandi [ ] Folic Acid and Medicare Part D >> >> Hi Everyone....Guess what???? Guest guest
Right now I think it is more important than ever that we make our voices heard on issues that effect us. I know this isn't the place for politics but I do want to add this. There is one MAJOR origination, which I will not name here, that claims to support senior citizens all the way. Before you support them check out their activities and I think you will find that they only CLAIM to support the elderly and just about everything they are involved in is against the elderely. Guest guest
My syringes are 1 cc with 1/2 " #29 needles, and I get them at WalMart. If they are the ones you use and you can't get that price, I'll see what it will cost to ship them by the box for you from here, just give me your zip code or check with mine, 75755. Shipping a box at a time can save money for you and I'll be glad to do it at no cost to me. Let me know. Guest guest
I've looked into some of the 'money-savings' offers they crow about, and all I see are a joke. I can get car insurance, life insurance, everythig else at a much greater savings than they can offer right here at home. Maybe we should start a poitical organization to support us in the way we really need to, and charge about $8 for admission. Think that will work? I still don't know who you are talking about, though.
