Guest guest
One of the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease is abnormal posturing. A lot of kids have discovered methods of applying pressure to their abdomen to ease pain. Constipation is another symptom. My son's behavior improved DRAMATICALLY in all areas after we had him scoped and started treating his inflammatory bowel disease (lymphoid nodular hyperplasia) with probiotics, anti-inflammatories (Pentasa), a gf/cf diet, and secretin. Among other things, his rage attacks stopped. Any other symptoms? (malodorous stool, undigested food in the stool, failure to grow, distended abdomen) My son only had pain and constipation. Guest guest
My daughter only has pain (she pushes on her abdomen a lot!) and constipation, except for occasional undigested foods, but she doesn't chew her food well at all, so how can I expect her gut to do all the work? But, yes, I have strongly suspected LNH but am not confident that a local GI doc could find it. I have heard many parents say they took their child to a local GI doc who couldn't find anything, then went to Krigsman or Buie and found out their child DID have LNH. We just don't have the money to see either of them, so I am wondering who you took your son to? We did topical secretin and saw no changes, and have always done probiotics, but of course not the Pentasa at the same time, since we had no diagnosis to warrant its use. She is SCD, dietwise, so definitely GFCF. Guest guest
Hi Jane: I'm sorry to hear that you are having a rough time right now. I know how you feel about having to change plans that have been made - it's hard for my kids to understand when I cancel plans too. Try not to stress too much about it - these girls are old enough to fend for themselves while you rest from time to time. I am sure that their chatter will take your mind off your pain for a bit - take care Kathe in CA --- JANE <janeatregis@...> wrote: > Hey yall. I thought taking the Arava would give me more energy, and it has, but I still don't seem to have enough juice, ya know? I was wondering if I should try a vitamin or complain and ask for a pill to add to my regimen. Ive been taking Arava for a little over a month. Am I just doomed to be tired b/c of RA? Or are meds supposed to control ALL of the symptoms? I don't really know. Thanks Again, Jane

But, there's hope. Many on this list are on both a biologic (like Enbrel or Humira) in addition to Arava or MTX. So that might be your next step. I'm pretty sure I'm headed in that direction. Plus, I think your doc will probably say to give the Arava another month cuz it does take awhile... Good luck
