Guest guest
I consulted with a nutritionist years ago. Basically she told me to avoid wheat flour, white flour, white & brown sugar, citrus, tomatoes, additives, colors, preservatives, red meat, all milk except skim, caffeine, chocolate, beer and hard liquor. She also told me to eat organic as much as possible, use the 3-day rotation diet, and to take quality vitamins and supplements. I have found that sugar bothers me the most, and sometimes takes two days to affect a joint(s). Pacific NW Dew <dewdrop_mealine@...> wrote: I tend to be very inquisitive, hope ya'll don't mind. Would anyone tell me what foods they have problems with and what kind of diet they follow? Such as, low-carb, low-fat or natural foods, raw foods etc. I have problems with caffeine and with wheat. I am also diabetic and had a surgery that causes me to need to eat low-carb. I would be interested to know what you have found out about RA and nutrition. Referrals to sites would also be welcome. Guest guest
Dew, I have studied nutritional supplements and always take acidolphilus after I have had to use a prescription antiobiotic. I try to avoid the prescription type and instead use garlic as that is a natural antiobiotic. Usually I will also take enchinecia as that strengthens the immune system. I don't use these on a regular basis, but only as needed. My doctor recommended that I give my 6 mo old baby yogurt with an active culture when she had been suffering from diareah for about two weeks. It worked like a charm and it was the acidophilus that cured her diareah. Hope this answers some of your questions. > > I'm still searching for answers to nutrition and RA. > I found a site that is for natural practices. It suggests > a fast and an elimination diet. Guest guest
Hello Dew, I take probiotics (yeastconnection.com) and eat yogurt daily. My body harbors yeast and the probiotics really help. I'll probably have to take them forever, it's worth it to me, helps with diarrhea and intestinal upset. Guest guest
HI Dew and all, I take the probionic Flora Q my GI doc recommended. But only take it after antibiotics or when my system is upset. Another fibro group member said to avoid these things: MSG, additives, nutrasweet, carbonated drinks, sugar, wheat and soy. I can't avoid all of them but do some of them. I don't know where she found the information though. Fasting is out of the question for me, also. Guest guest
HI Dew, I eat yogurt whenever I am on antibiotics to help prevent yeast infections. I also believe in drinking acidolphilus whenever one gets canker sores in the mouth. Acidolphilus seems to get rid of them in a flash. Take care,Hugs deebs87 <dlohf@...> wrote: HI Dew and all, I take the probionic Flora Q my GI doc recommended. But only take it after antibiotics or when my system is upset.
