Guest guest
Hi Tonia, We usually have plenty of spare scoby but our new kombucha mat (only 10w rather than 20w) is struggling. It is interesting to see what a difference heat makes. With our old 20w mat we would make almost 1cm thick scobys each time we made a new batch - now they are more like 1mm thick. We have started insulating the kombucha bowl with a towel which is helping a bit. If you don't get any offers of a more robust scoby you are welcome to have some of our new thin ones. (Just email us your address). Best wishes, Sandy > > Hello all, I am planning to make my own kombucha. I've tried to get some free scoby's from a kombucha forum, but haven't had any success. Can anyone advise me as to where I can get some good quality scoby's? > > Thanks very much, Tonia >
Guest guest
Thank you Sandy, I wasn't thinking of using a mat. I have a yogurt maker which has a heated tray underneath but have no idea what temp it gets up to. You can make it without a mat right? Guest guest
Hi Tonia, I guess that could work well ... you've given us the idea of trying our yoghurt maker - maybe we could make some better scobys.
