Guest guest
I have never been told before that River needed to take anything. I talked to his family doctor yesterday and he's concerned why the other doc want to put River on adderall. He says this med is for kids with ADHD.. river was not diagnosed with this.. but I am researching things and I do keep very close contact with our family doctor about River. I am just questioning now the DS doc we take him to every year. He doesn't do any more for him then Rivers family doctor. time will lead us to the right descions about things.. Guest guest
The information came from this site: http://www.nutrivene.com/ Int'l Nutrition sells supplements for people with special needs. They sell the ginkgo biloba and fatty acid products. I'm concerned with your lack of knowledge about these supplements. I'm not your doctor and you need to be on board with him/her. These are just suggestions, work with your doctor. If you're going to use alternative medicine, then you need to be responsible for the use of them, why you're using them and your doctor needs to be informed and consulted. Ginkgo biloba and fatty acids can thin the blood. The use of them should be stopped prior to surgery and usually for some time after. As to the " why " for using Ginkgo biloba, there's a good explanation: http://gotdownsyndrome.blogspot.com/2009/12/ginkgo-biloba-faq_22.html I can't say it enough, if you're interesting in alternative meds at least until an FDA approved medical treatment comes along, then you need to do your own research and decide what you want to do. This is for your child's safety. Marsha > > Thanks again Marsha. Where did yo ufind out this info from/ >
Guest guest
Adderall is for ADHD. My son has been dx with ADHD as well and Adderall was horible for him, made him more violent. We ended up with Concerta which is timed released and it made the difference between night and day for him. He is no longer seriously hyper and is more focused. I would seek a dx of ADHD first. Have you looked into behavior intervention as well. We have had a behaviorist and this helped as well, seriuosly helped. Another idea is to check for allergies to wheat and dairy and other foods, this can cause ill behavior in children. I think its a GI that can order the food allergy tests. Another reason for behaviors is the need to communicate, signing, photo boards, Iphone apps and communication devices can help in this area and may calm some of the behavior. We are believers in medication for those who truly need it, like our son, but believe some things should be ruled out first. Best of luck!
