Guest guest
My neighbor had a Maine Coon and so I know they are HUGE, Soft and beautiful cats. Didn't you get your cats when they were kittens? I haven't had a kitten in over 14 years and now I will have two....EEK! Guest guest
I will definitely post pictures when I get them. I should have one in May and one in July...I can't wait, I'm like a kid I'm so EXCITED! Cat breeding is very interesting. A lynx female and a Seal male can have lynx points, Seal points and blue points. Your cat was probably half Siamese. Does he have the personality, eye color and voice of a Siamese? How many cats/dogs do you have? Guest guest
I've never really studied up on Siamese cats so I don't know if he has the personality or anything. He is very vocal, but only when he is looking for me. If I'm not where he can find me, he will go to my bedroom door and call for me. If I come out of the bedroom he's fine and back to being quiet. If I don't come out of the bedroom or let him in the bedroom with me, though, he will keep going and going and going. He drives my husband crazy with it during the day while I'm at school or work and Mike is trying to sleep since he works nights. Jake is also very temperamental. He is very affectionate with me but generally only when we are alone. He also plays a lot with his toys (a mouse and a couple of balls) but again, only when the other cats aren't around. If they show an interest in his toys, he ignores the toys and won't play. He has blue eyes. So does his mother, Diva. Only blue eyed cats I have. I don't know how she ended up with the Siamese look. Her Mothers family line (I got her from family so I know that line) were all tabby, pure black, and gray. There was a Maine Coon tabby like 3 generations back, but most of them were standard American shorthair and some had the longer hair like the coon. Her Mother was a longhair tabby who was so tiny and soft that people thought she had ragdoll in there somewhere. Diva's dad was the Tuxedo my kids found at a football game. Who knows what his lineage was? When Diva was born she was all white and her siblings were tabby and black and white. She was the odd ball that we had no idea how she ended up not looking like one of her parents. When Jake was born, the only male we had that hadn't been fixed yet was a Tuxedo named Piggy from a litter of Diva's dad (Cane) and a solid black, petite longhair. So, it is possible that Cane had a Siamese gene and passed it on to both Diva and Piggy and the combination of the two produced another Siamese. Jake was born looking white or almost silver. I thought he was going to be gray like some of his grandmothers ancestors. Then he started developing his color as he aged. Now he's super dark compared to when he was a baby. I'll attach some pictures so you can see him as he's aged. Also, when he was a baby, he was born in my doghouse. When it rained, the dog tried to move him out because the doghouse was flooding. She injured his leg in the process of saving his life. So, in the baby pictures there is one of him where you can see the leg is messed up. Then in one of the more recent pictures, you can see how he sits with his leg hanging off the side of whatever he is sitting on so that it is more comfortable. He has to take arthritis medicine and do physical therapy to keep the mobility in the leg because the knee is damaged to the point that the only thing that can be done is a total knee replacement. The vet thinks that may have to happen when he is elderly, but as long as he has no problems they don't want to do it because cats don't get full mobility back after a knee replacement like people do. I actually have 6 cats in the house and 5 outside that rotate houses where they go for food. They didn't like staying in when they were younger and where we live in the country they basically go back and forth between various family members houses or play with the cows in the field between us. When I move to Tampa, I will be taking the 6 indoor babies and the outside fluffers will stay with their other families. I would love to take them with me because I will miss them, but I can't convince them that they should be inside with me instead of running all over the countryside and being an outside cat in a big city wouldn't be safe for them after having the run of the woods and fields here. We also have 4 dogs and 9 puppies. It was just 3 dogs and then my daughters ex-boyfriend gave her a dog for Christmas. He rescued it from the pound, so I couldn't turn it away. And my two unspayed females who were chained up in my yard so they didn't scare the mailman apparently had some conjugal visits from the neighbor dogs. So, now I'm trying to find homes for 9 lab/American bulldog mix puppies. I've found homes for 2 so far. Anyone want a puppy? I will definitely post pictures when I get them. Guest guest
Yes, it is like living on a farm. We only have an acre, but there are only 3 houses on our mile long road and the rest is farm land. While I don't farm, per say, I do rescue all the animals that get dumped out here so DH calls our acre " Animal Farm " . I think he thinks the animals are in charge. Then again, I think some of the animals think they are in charge. LOL As for Jake's grandma, she was definitely not a Siamese. She was a tortoise shell tabby but not much bigger then a kitten even at 5 years old when I saw her last. My Fish (the long haired black cat in the pictures of them on the couch) is like that, super small and super soft. I guess I should have introduced them when I posted the pictures. Jake is the Siamese that I sent all the pictures of, and the other Siamese looking cat with all the lighter markings nursing him as when he was little is his mother, Diva. She gets lighter and darker depending on the temperature outside. In the summer, she is much darker then she is in the winter. In the picture of Jake with the other cats, that's Speckles, the black and white on the left, Jello, the white with tortoise shell tabby striped spots, and Fish, the long haired pure black cat. Fish is actually short for Catfish, which my husband named her because it appeared as if her eyes were on the side of her head when she was born. She had huge eyes and looked strange (see attached picture), which is why we didn't try to find her another home because we figured nobody would want a deformed cat. She's since grown up into a beautiful, loving girl who is very demanding of my attention whenever I'm sitting on the couch. The picture of the 3 black cats on me on the couch is Boo on the left, Fish in the middle, and Sissy on the right. Tonya, you have a FARM! I should have lived on a farm because I would love to have all of those cats and dogs. But you are right to bring only your indoor cats to Tampa with you. My Siamese Mia is an indoor cat and when I finally get her brothers they will be indoor cats too. The blue eyes, being vocal and getting darker colored with age are traits of Siamese cats. If the tabby cat in the lineage wasn't a Ragdoll it was probably a lynx point Siamese, it's really hard to tell though without seeing them. My 20 yr old cat Mia cries when she can't find me. She was never very vocal (except at the Vet) until she lost her vision due to cataracts...now she cries A LOT and she also cries for her brother Gizmo that I had to put to sleep...I can't wait until I get the kittens...hopefully soon! Guest guest
Yes, and that is Jake as a baby with her. I honestly didn't think either of them were real Siamese cats because they aren't from a long line of pure bred Siamese cats. I thought they were Colorpoints. But who knows? I love them no matter what they are, so I don't care how they classify them in the vets office. Is the striped cat in the picture Jake's mother? If so, she is a lynx point Siamese cat, which explained why she had Jake.. a Seal point Siamese cat. Many people don't know that the lynx point is a " real " Siamese and not just a short-haired cat. Guest guest
The Cat Associations classify Lynx Points as Lynx Colorpoints but they're really Siamese cats. I had one Lynx point and he acted just like my two Chocolate points and my Blue Point Siamese. Anyway, I don't care what anyone classifies them to be, because they are still Siamese cats to me! I LOVE lynx points! How did you find Jake's mom? Guest guest
She was a part of a litter of cats that my husbands family had. Like I said, the only one who was white when born.
