I feel pretty good, though. Everything is still steadily getting easier. I'm feeling much stronger and faster on the bike.

That is such good news, !! You definitely have that motivation to press on and I think that's part of why you've been so successful. ;)))

Thanks so much ! I am so grateful that you, Judy, Jen, and Colapop turned me on to this clever little device, this Fitbit. It is exactly what I needed in order to pull it all together.  I also am very inspired when I read about your workouts. I want to get strong like that. I don't always have time to respond, but your workouts are amazing. Pinky's are too.

I also have no choice but to press on, really--just like you! I lose my mind when I'm not active.  I get sad. I am a happy person because of exercise and good food. I crave this. Those are my drugs.

Happy SF outing!  You're going by bike?  How's the ringing in your ears?  Has that subsided at all?Hugs!

It's my day off, and I'm desperately behind on email. Blame my Kindle and library account! I've been reading like mad. Maybe I can curl up with my laptop this evening and see what you are all doing. However, it's gorgeous outside now after some heavy rains. I'm leaving the house messy and going to my favorite city: San Francisco. I have to pick up my new glasses, but the hills and the ocean are calling me.

Exercise: it's time to change things up. I need to add some total body strength workouts. I am going to move on to the lean phase of CLX just because I need variety, and since I'm not doing these every other day, I need to add some full body strength or I some body parts aren't going to get hit often enough.

I'm thinking of adding Cathe's Power Hour and some old classic Firm workouts, like Maximum Body Strength, or STS total body. I'll start tomorrow. I don't know. I'll decide when I look through my DVDs. I want fresh legs today for all those SF hills.

I feel pretty good, though. Everything is still steadily getting easier. I'm feeling much stronger and faster on the bike. It's amazing how much faster I bike when I'm doing lower body strength. No big surprise, but still! Joyful thing. I've been doing my all-weather, day or night bike commutes. I feel so happy to be doing this again.

Lastly, fitbit and myfitnesspal.com for the WIN! This is such an easy way to get the big picture. I have been very consistent about logging and am getting excellent results. If any of you are needing a great behavior modification tool, this is it. The Fibit is worth every penny.

OK. Shower and GO!

hi angelica!!

you consistently get high step counts every day! you are

killing us on the fitbit leaderboards, but that is OK! we are

cheering for you.... go AJ go!!!!

im so glad that fitbit and myfitnesspal are helping you. the

fitbit is helping me too... to get more steps, more stairs, eat

less. yesterday i was going to eat cheese (my major downfall)

but looking at my fitbit stats, i decided not to. a victory for

me over cheese is remarkable :)

im struggling with the fitbit food logging system a bit still...

they apparently have a new version of their food module in beta

testing, i hope they release it soon. im still considering

myfitnesspal but i dont want to have to log and review on two

websites. im also worried about the sync between fitbit and

MFP not working... they were having issues the last time i looked

into it. anyway, i have just been trying to keep it simple so

that i will do it, but fitbit.com doesnt fully co-operate ::sigh::

it does not matter !! i get behind a bit too, but try to make

up the workouts asap.

it is your rotation and your workout. do it as you see fit.

just know that im over here trying to do the same thing and i

hope that helps.

>How do you link the

i have a MFP account and can link my fitbit to it at

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/fitbit

but dont know how it all works after that...lol. and no time

lately to figure it all out. also i assume that i will have to

re-enter all of my foods into MFP, unless there is an

export/import, but i doubt it.

Thanks ! I did my bike commute 5 days this week, so I walked. It was a spectacularly gorgeous day today. It had rained most of the week, so the sunlight was intoxicating. The ringing/roaring is about the same, but I'm learning not to let it bug me. I'm so glad music and voices sound normal to me now. I'm so relieved about that.

Hi Jen, see if this link works for you:http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/fitbitI log my food and exercise on myfitnesspal, and just use the fitbit site to check my stats when I sync the fitbit.

Yes, I think it doesn't matter. What matters is that you keep your own momentum. Pace yourself, challenge yourself within reason, and listen to your body. You seem to be pretty focused. Keep it up.

Hi Carolyn,LOL! You guys get me with your activity points, though. My biggest revelation is just how sedentary my job is. I mind-meld with my computer for most of the day, so I really have to spring into action once I get away from my desk.

Yay for skipping the cheese! That stuff gums up the body. There are many healthier ways to get flavor into your food. It's so cool that the fitbit helped you to make that decision. I love that 30 day graph of intake vs. burn. That's so motivating.  I really do make decisions based on how I want that graph to look. I love ending the day with the blue line just below the red line, and I like the way it looks when I've done that for a few days in a row.

I love myfitnesspal so much. They had a little glitch exporting to fitbit about a week or so ago, but it resolved, and then all the data came over to fitbit. The fitbit data imports into MFP automatically. You can set your food & exercise goals there. It's actually pretty seamless. Sometimes you just need to wait a few minutes for the info to move back and forth between the two sites, but it usually happens almost instantaneously. Plus, it's free, so you've got nothing to lose.

Here's how I use the two websites:I have myfitnesspal (MFP) on my iPhone. Most of the time I log my food from there. I usually get that done when I'm commuting on BART. I log my breakfast, and I log the lunch I'm carrying.

I also log my exercise on MFP. I use a Polar HRM for everything other than walking. I usually log my morning workouts/bike rides into MFP using my iPhone while I'm on a break, and I'll quickly log my bike rides in the evening. Takes about a minute.

Fibit websit: I only log in briefly in the morning to review my sleep stats, and in the evening to look at my activity graph. Most of what I do is on MFP.In the evening I sit down for a bit with my laptop. First I upload my HRM data to polarpersonatrainer.com. That takes about 1 minute. Then I hook up the fitbit to the base station to charge it a bit.

I hope that helps you make your decision.

Hi , I'm glad that you are getting used to the ringing/roaring in your ears. It took me a while to get used to the star-burst effect I had after my bout with optic neuritis in the summer of 2010. I think I was more scared than anything else. I wanted the vision in my "good" eye to come back the way it was and seeing the star-burst every time I looked at a light

was a sad reminder that it wasn't back to normal. Now though I accept it because my color vision is normal and so is everything else except of seeing the star-burst. I know that it takes years (if ever) for nerves to heal, so I'm just going to forget about it and be happy that I CAN see colors and read! Jen

Wow, Jen. It is super scary when stuff like that happens. You're not sure how bad it's going to get, and it's such a relief when you're lucky enough to regain that function. Boy, the things we take for granted when everything works right! I'm so glad you regained that function.

You are so right. We're were both lucky to have those improvements. One look around a neurologist's waiting room was enough to make me realize how much worse things can be. And one look around the Nuclear Medicine department waiting room made me feel like I was super lucky.

I tried to be grateful at every stage. Not sure I was always successful, but I tried.

If you're using your fitbit for all your exercise, you don't have to manually log it. It transfers over to MFP automatically. The only things I log are my cycling and exercise video data from my HRM. The fitbit doesn't do well with cycling.

This will not change the way you see your exercise on your fitbit account. However, it's going to pull your food data into the fitbit site so you can compare your intake and exercise calories.

It says that I have to log everything on myfitnespal.com.  And that I'm suppose to log a start and end time in mfp, how do I do that?  Does it still show on my fitbit account when I walk etc...?

That makes sense. It would probably work fine if you keep logging activity that way on the fitbit site, and do the food at myfitnesspal. The info seems to sync both ways.
