Guest guest
I've never done the " new to class " option. So are you working out the entire 45 minutes then, it's just broken down more slowly? I may have to try that sometime!Good job Miss Judy! I needed a quick workout and wantedd something new so did this.. With the new class option Chalene breaks down the sequences so it is really more like 45 min but great workout. I think I will try it again this week. I was nervous with my knees but they show modifiers and got a great workout Weekend was great. My dog Siegfried was SO close to his second (MACH2) agility championship but dropped a bar in the last class. I was sad as his breeder was there and I so wanted her to see him do it.. oh well. When he did run a clean round he won so very happy with him. I really need to work my core so going to add abs on this week judy s
Guest guest
no.. they stop and show you the sequences but you kind of need to do them to get use to them and these are "off the clock".. ie. the countdown clock isn't there and when you get back to the workout it is in same spot as when they left to demo so those extra minutes practicing are not included. It is slower so not as intense but I still think you are working.. I think it is a fabulous option as for anyone new to turbo those combos would be tough anyway... it was good for me and as always I love Chalene!!j To: exercisevideos Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 11:06 AM Subject: Re: Fire 30 - new class I've never done the "new to class" option. Guest guest
I find that, for me, the New to Class option allows me to do TF for longer periods of time without sacrificing intensity or calorie burn. Chalene usually previews both A and B combos of sections at once, or sometimes, like in the Fire 45EZ, she previews a couple of sections all together, since there's no turbo in that workout. Also, when you preview the turbos you'll see that people don't just go through the motions but will do all the sumo burpees, tuck jumps, jumping jacks, etc., so when you add that to the actual full-on turbo section, you've basically done it twice!I did the New to Class option for Fire 60 and when I checked my bodybugg that week I found that I burned about 1200 calories in those 75 minutes. Ever since then I just do the New to Class version all the time, since it forces me to go longer. I like the shorter HIIT workouts but I need to add to my overall weekly fitness minutes and this is an simple way to do it.Namiko To: exercisevideos Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 11:06 AM Subject: Re: Fire 30 - new class I've never done the "new to class" option. Guest guest
Employment-wise I'm still... not. Employed, I mean. :)But honestly, we're cutting way back on things, like our FiOS tv. (We missed the Super Bowl and the s and seriously don't care about any of that!) So we're making it work on one salary for now and we're hanging in there. With Netflix and and the Internet we can watch whatever we want. We should have cut it out years ago.But my shoulder! Sheesh! I went to the ortho and he did some movement tests and no, it didn't hurt but it still ACHES sometimes. Does that make sense at all? It's not a fracture nor is it shooting pains and I've had worse pain from DOMS but I don't know what this thing is. Luckily he prescribed PT for that and for my elbow and I start tomorrow, twice a week for six weeks. I just want this over with - I haven't lifted anything heavier than 3 pounds and nothing at all over my head in weeks! One thing I did notice that was strange is that while I can stay in plank with no problems, and do mountain climbers and burpees and all that, I can't do a pushup without considerable pain. It's the downward movement that causes it. And it hurts my clavicle the most. This is the weirdest injury I've ever had.Sounds like Will is taking your mind off of things, if only for a little while? He's not a creamsicle kitty but he'll do for now? *grin*Namiko To: exercisevideos Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 11:45 AM Subject: Re: Fire 30 - new class Interesting! I'll have to give that a shot! Guest guest
Yes Namiko there are a lot of things we can do without. I don't have cable tv or even regular network tv anymore (I have the older boxy tv's that don't get the new transmissions) In the summer there are tons of free things to do, at least in Portland - concerts in parks and outdoor events....in the winter visiting art galleries is free and fun. There was a time when I was quite poor and lived on 15K per year. You have the right attitude and I have you in my list of people to wish employment for. I'm just sorry your shoulder is still giving you grief! Working out with Chalene does usually cheer me up!Hugs > I did the New to Class option for Fire 60 and when I checked my > bodybugg that week I found that I burned about 1200 calories in > those 75 minutes. Guest guest
I went the New to Class option for Fire 60 because I definitely knew I wasn't ready for 60 minutes of TF as well! And of course, I've never been able to get that kind of calorie burn for that workout again. I think it's because, even with the preview, I tend to go all out when I do something new. It's like the first time I did a Turbo Fire workout - I did the turbo section full-out, dripping sweat and gasping for air, and after a few minutes of what I thought was the "recovery" section, here comes another turbo! I barely made it through to the end and I sort of dreaded doing it again after that, to be honest. Now I know how to pace myself so I'm not so destroyed by the time I get to the final Recovery part!I still love all things Turbo, though. It's just a lot of fun.Namiko To: exercisevideos Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 5:54 PM Subject: Re: Fire 30 - new class > I did the New to Class option for Fire 60 and when I checked my> bodybugg that week I found that I burned about 1200 calories in> those 75 minutes.WOW!!!! what a workout namiko!ive done a couple turbo fire workouts and i also used the new to class option... i didnt think i was ready to do the workout full-out yet. the new to class was just fine for me.:*carolyn.------------------------------------
Guest guest
Oh, our TV is only good for Wii games and streaming Netflix/Internet videos. We bought a cheap HDMI cable and Hulu lets me catch up with any show I feel like I'm missing, which isn't all that much! Plus we want to cut back on TV watching for my son, anyway.I do have to confess, though, that we get Academy award screeners (my husband is a producer and votes in his guild's awards) so we don't have to go to the movies very much and there are quite a lot of kids' movies for my son to watch so he's never bored. But yes! NYC is pricey but there's a ton of free and cheap things to do too! Plus we live near the beach and they're free. We pretty much live there all summer!Namiko To: exercisevideos Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 7:41 PM Subject: Re: Fire 30 - new class Yes Namiko there are a lot of things we can do without. Guest guest
No! I saw your video, of course, which is awesome btw, and read your breakdown of the sections, but my Pro training status with Powder Blue is something else I didn't renew. I couldn't justify it since I wasn't going to teach. The local presenter for Powder Blue isn't based too far away from me, though, and she's becoming more active with free workshops and stuff, so I keep looking online to see what's on the calendar for my area. I think with all the videos I have should keep me busy, too, as long as my shoulder stops hurting! Guest guest
Ha, it's pretty cool to get the academy screeners I guess, although some of them scroll the SCREENER THIS IS A SCREENER warning at the bottom of the screen at random times throughout a movie. The coolest part is getting a movie before it even comes out in the theater. We got the first half of the last Harry Potter film last year that way, an entire week before it was officially released. In the fall I start looking for the FedEx truck and the FedEx guy must think something really shady is going on, with all the packages that require someone to sign for it at the time of delivery. You'd think we were getting government secrets or something. The FBI and studio warnings are something else, too. I think they'll send a hit squad to your house if you ever try to share the dvds with other people!I know it's not the same, watching a movie on TV vs. a huge theater screen, but with finding a sitter and the price of the movie tickets themselves, it's just not feasible to go out all the time! And plus the studios send you the little sleeper surprise films and documentaries that you might not always hear about, so those are cool to get. My husband LOVED "Warrior" but the way it was marketed I know he never would've gone to see it in a movie theater. And being a producer isn't actually all that great! He makes commercials now -- yes, the sugary cereal commercials disguised as cartoons (Lucky Charms, Trix) are all his. Sorry! Does Chalene show lower impact moves too? Jenp.s. sorry for late reply, I'm behind AGAIN!

Does Chalene show lower impact moves too? it is a very high impact workout because it is HIIT - high intensity interval training. i did modify the turbo fire workouts that ive done... but everything is still done very fast. just watching chalene and the others do the workouts is amazing. there are other options in the turbo fire kit.. EZ versions they are called and they are not as intense. still high impact but a bit less of it. and not easy! :*carolyn.
