Guest guest
i had lots of time and lots of energy available today to start working on my PY rotation day 1 was 'foundation' and 'lower body/abs'. but first i walked for an hour with chinook... it was mild and not windy, so quite nice. then 'foundation' which is 30 mins long and is basically floor aerobics. no complicated choreo... all of the moves are basic... but kathy puts them together into energetic combos. overall i thought it was a good workout, but kathy has a habit of snapping her fingers. i liked some of the music, which surprised me. some of the combos include punches, which i enjoyed. and kathy cued really well and gave good pointers. no real cooldown... this workout is meant to be done before the strength training workouts in the series for the first week. then came 'lower body/abs'. no warmup, because you were supposed to do a cardio workout first. this one is an unweighted workout, which surprised me. you can carry dumbells in your hands for the squats and lunges, if you like. lots of comments from the peanut gallery, including andre houle, who is a backgrounder. some of the others make comments as well, and it gets to be a bit much. especially since i doubt that any of this workout is hard for these instructors to do, yet they groan and say things like 'cmon andre, you can do one more'... LOLOL kathy uses the stability ball for the abs, which i liked... it is way better for my neck/back to use the ball for crunches. lots of standing work for the glutes which reminds me of kathy's 'secrets for a great lower body' workout. very short and inadequate stretch at the end. :*carolyn. Guest guest
Yes... the back ground exercisers in these are truly phony baloneys and Andre drives me nuts. I think of him as Kathy's little subbie plaything. I this he has some of his own CIA workouts and yes, all these exercisers have the fake exertion thing going. That said,I love this program and as with Austin, you can always make fun of the peanut gallery! Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, I didn't get to do PY Lower body/abs until this evening because my living room (where I exercise) was filled with stuff that my mom and I were giving away to charity. They said they would come between 9am and 6pm..they came at 5:30pm...so we weren't too thrilled! Our townhouse coop is giving everyone a new furnace and fortunately or unfortunately ours is being replaced this Thursday. We have to move a lot of stuff around so that the men can get into the front door, through the kitchen, through part of the basement to the furnace so NO FUN for us! I guess it's a good thing I haven't got my kittens yet but still it sucks! I will have to lock my blind cat Mia upstairs in a bedroom so that she doesn't get in the way. Anyway, back to PY Lower body/abs. I used 10s for the squats and 5's for the dead lifts and lunges. I didn't notice a lot of chatter...guess I just tuned it out Some instructors just put chatting in exercise videos to make them more interesting...sometimes it works sometimes not. Good job PY buddy!
