Guest guest
My response would have been " Since when are YOU my doctor and who made you judge and jury of these carts? Then I'd add something like " Does a heart lung transplant qualify me? " This isn't saying you HAD one, but it would make her realize that she's totally in the wrong and sure would put her in her place! I'm sorry you were made to feel like this. Just forget about that ignorant person. a On Jun 7, 2006, at 8:44 AM, brenda wrote: > hi group, im so mad i can spit nails, i had to make a trip to walmart > yesterday, it has been raining so its one of those flare up days that > is jsut killing my joints, i got on one of the motorized cars to go > through the store and get the things that i needed. and now that the > walmarts are supercenters they are so big and i knew i was going to be > all over that store. i had a woman stop me and tell me i needed to > get off the car and let someone that was disabled use it when they > came in. it wasnt a person that worked there it was another shopper. > of all the never, what do you think > > >
Guest guest
Janet, Don't let an ignorant person stop you from using a cart that is there just for us! In the years I've been using one, no one has EVER made any comments like that to me. Most people are very courteous and many offer to help reach things off the shelf. a On Jun 7, 2006, at 9:12 AM, jan wrote: > That is why I will not use the motor chairs in walmart.. because of > people like that. > Janet IN IL

Guest guest
I run into this sort of thing far too often. I spent too many years watching people be rude to my mother, I learned I will not tolerate it. And my kids won't, either. Pulling into the handicapped spot at Costo, a woman had the nerve to pull up behind us, to " tell " us we couldn't park in a handicapped spot. Guess she thought someone handicapped shouldn't have been driving a sports car! I was a little slow getting out of the car (surprise, surprise) but my daughter (who's 21 and drives me everywhere when she's home) handled it. I think I'm glad I couldn't hear what she said, I might have turned very red! She's not at all reticent. I'm getting a reputation for being dangerous with my cane if someone cuts too close, or bumps me. They will go done before I do, guaranteed. While I was in China, a peddler kept crowding me, trying to get me to buy a " Rolex " . He didn't take no for an answer. So, finally, I walked away - oh, and how did his foot get in my way? He yelped, said something I didn't understand, and I saw him talking to the others and pointing to me. No one else came near me all day. Just because we need mobility aids doen't mean we have to tolerate rudeness and even cruelty! We have just as much right to go about our business as anyone else, and to do it free from interference from people such as the woman that confronted you. Just tell her she doesn't know what she's talking about, and to mind her own business.
