Guest guest
Welcome, !! This is a great group for all sorts of health/fitness related information. I really enjoy hearing the reviews of the DVDs so that i know which ones to get and which to avoid! I'm 53, mother of 2 grown boys, married, and engineer/tech writer looking for employment, living in Indianapolis. My parents (both 88) live with me and DH. They have multiple health problems that could have been avoided early, but damage is now done. I hope to stay fit for the rest of my life now! I see daily what poor health leads to! Indyrose > > Hi, I was invited by Carolyn from Canada. Thanks Carolyn, I replied to your message but it was returned because my e-mail got hacked and someone is spamming with it. I do not send anything other than responses. I signed up last week but I spent some time figuring out what to do with my e-mail account. Now we are on a ski trip, and we had a wonderful weather for spring skiing but the slopes closed today because the snow melted. I got enough out of it that I am sore from neck to ankles. > I live in the greater Toronto area, east of the city. > > I am 47 years old, mother of 7 year old twin boys. They are very active and keep me busy all the time. I work out to stay fit and healthy so I can be with them as long as possible. My problem area is my belly. My muscles got separated during pregnancy and it took years to get them to close. My muscle is strong, I think, I can do most of the abdominal exercises without blinking, but the fat pad on it won't go away. > > I work out every day in some form, aerobics on video, running with kids, swimming or jumping rope, I have tried Insanity, P90X. I have Rodney Yee's yoga for abs but I find it too easy, not challenging at all so I don't use it much. Insanity made me sick so I picked a lower intensity fat burning work out by Minna Lessig. It makes me sweat just fine. It is strength and cardio circuits for a half hour, with 15 minutes extra work with weights at the end. When I don't feel like doing organized exercises I jump rope while I watch tv. > I plan to stop my medication that has a weight gaining side effect and hope that will help to get rid of that little fat. I would like to have a flat abdomen. Maybe it is unrealistic at my age but I will try. My other goal is to run the marathon wich will be something if I can do because I don't like running, never did even when I was in my teens and ran every day to be fit. Now my hips hurt or I get asthma attacks if I run. There must be a way for someone like me to train for a marathon. > > I am getting married in September to the father of my kids (we have been together for 17 years), and I want to fit into my dress without a belly that looks 4-5 months pregnant depending on the day of the month. I am cutting out dairy to reduce bloating, otherwise we are eating healthy 90% of the time. We like the occasional treat, or we have to eat what MIL cooks. On those days we either work out more or eat more salad during the day. > > I am going to try to stretch my sore muscles now before I go to bed. I hope to get to know you. > > >
Guest guest
> Hi, I was invited by Carolyn from Canada. hi andrea!! im so glad that you were able to join us. sorry to hear about your email account getting messed up and that there was a lack of snow on your vacation. normally there would be great skiing on march break... usually we go tubing with the kids... but this winter was so weird. apparently something to do with a stuck jet stream. oh well, sounds like you still got a huge workout! > I am 47 years old, mother of 7 year old twin boys. im 48, mom to 11 year old shane and 12 year old luke. wow, giving birth to twins at age 40 !!! my hat goes off to you! your activity level and workouts sound very good. i would continue to concentrate on cardio+sculpt (blended or in circuits) like you are doing. you do not have to kill yourself with P90X or insanity to be fit and strong. i might have that minna lessig video, i have a few of hers. what is the title? sounds nice. personally i do not feel it is unreasonable to want flat abs! you can do it, keep trying! concentrate on all of the other benefits you are getting in the meantime. > My other goal is to run the marathon wich will > be something if I can do because I don't like running, never > did even when I was in my teens and ran every day to be fit. > Now my hips hurt or I get asthma attacks if I run. There must > be a way for someone like me to train for a marathon. if your asthma flares up when you try to run, then you do not have it under control and need to see a dr. you dont have to live with that. personally i take advair and it helps me immensely and it does not make me gain weight. however if you are on prednisone then i can totally see it. i am not a runner but i think that the key is to start out slowly and work your way up. some of our friends here run and can advise you about that. donna is doing the 'couch-to-5K' running program, which you might find interesting. > I am getting married in September congratulations to you all !! > I am cutting out dairy to reduce > bloating, otherwise we are eating healthy 90% of the time. do you take calcium supplements then? i am so glad that you joined and introduced yourself and i hope that you will post often. i think that you fit right in here! :*carolyn. Guest guest
Yes, welcome, ! I'm , 44, and live in Portland, Oregon. At the moment I mostly lift weights at the gym, take Group Kick at the gym, and run outside, but I love my workout videos too and go through phases where that's all I do. Can't wait to read your reviews! Hi ,Welcome to the group! I'm looking forward to hearing about your workouts! Hi, I was invited by Carolyn from Canada. Guest guest
Welcome ! We look forward to hearing more about you and your workouts! I'm Donna - age 44, married to my DH for 17 years, mom to one DD,age 8 1/2. I pretty much do it all in terms of exercise DVDs - although my body prefers gentler workouts these days! I'm also starting a running program using the "Couch to 5K" model. I used to run in H.S., College, my early 20's and 30's - but fell off the running wagon when my DD came along! Oh, I live in the U.S. - outside of Washington, D.C. (far out suburbs) and I work full time - but get to telecommute 2X per week which is a lifesaver!! Take care!Donna Subject: New member: To: exercisevideos Date: Thursday, March 22, 2012, 10:21 PM Hi, I was invited by Carolyn from Canada.
