Guest guest
I felt very weird being out in my chair at first. I hated it and hoped I never ran into anyone I went to high school. with. This was in my 20's. I'm 37 now with 24 years of RA under my belt. But when you finally are in so much pain, but you want to get out, you don't care anymore. And I have found, that if you keep the smile on and it looks like you're having a great time, you get smiles from people, but NOT pity smiles. There is a difference in how they will look at or treat you, on how you are looking back at them. Also, when I go shopping and what not now, I won't let anyone push in the stores, on the tile I race around like an Indy 500 driver! When you are sitting, and all that pressure is off the bottom half, work your muscles! I " walk " around the store all by myself, strengthen my muscles, get the heart pumping, and the freedom of being able to MOVE FAST and I am the one in control of that is the most wonderful feeling when you are always depending on someone else. That is the best exercise I get for my bottom half and it feels good! If people see you aren't bothered by sitting in a chair, then they won't feel uncertain how to react. As for kids? All my friends kids LOVE to wheel me around and fight over who is gonna push me! I just ask them, " do you have your chauffeur's license? " Rainy __________________________________________________
