Guest guest
Well, I finally called the rheummy about my killer cold that started a week ago. He said no humira for another two weeks until we are sure this is gone. I have mixed feelings about this...at least I did get 4 days of relief after the initial acid in the skin from the shot! So now I even miss the total 8 decent days I would have had. I am going to talk to him about going to weekly shots since It only seems to work for 4 days and cause the drug is so far free to me...thanks to Humira Share Program...Maybe I can tough out the acid in the skin with each injection until it runs out and get him to change me to something less caustic!! ICK I was talking to a lady at the docs office while I was waiting for my parents to finish with there appnt. She also has RA and she wants to try HUmira...but she can not get it cause she is on medicaide and no rheummy in this area takes medicaid and she refuses to travel to see one. So she only takes tylenol, Ultracet and Celebrex forher RA. She so far has had both knees replaced and is doing very poorly. I feel bad for her. I told her maybe she needs to bite the bullet and travel..she claims she can no longer drive and none of her adult kids drive. she can not afford hotels, bus and such. Sad situation.. Toni HI Toni, Sorry to hear you are off the Humira for another 2 weeks. Bummer. Have you tried using an ice pack on the site before injecting? I know it helps big time... As for the lady who cant get humira, have her look into a referral from her primary doc. I dont know how medidcaid works where you are, but here in PA if you have a referral they have to take you. Being curious one day i called member services and asked what rheumamtologist is in the area... none in a 40 mile radius without a referral. Nice. Sorry didnt mean to make this a novel... lol hugs from PA

I am reall thinking I need to go to once a week. Of course I may have a better response if I was also taking my plaquinil like I am suppose to. However I would prefer to be only on ONE med and not a walking drug store. PLus I can not get the necessary eye exams with the plaquinil. I made a rheummy appnt this week for April. I can only afford one appnt a month...so I have to decide who do I really NEED to see. Toni Yikes Toni sorry you are feeling so crappy still. The ice pack thing works i swear lol but you have to leave it on there for a good while... i do it till i cant stand the cold but whatever works right! lol I have trouble also taking meds on time also...Doc never mentioned plaquinil to mea t all so i dont know how that works. Hope you feel better soon sweetie! hugs from PA
Guest guest
Hi , I talked to her about that...but apparently even with referrels most of the doctors will NOT take medicaid. Those on medicaid alone here have a really horrible time!!! Now if you have medicaid and commercial insurance the docs will take that. But medicaid and medicare combo seems to be just as bad. The doc state poor to almost NO reimbursement is the reason why they refuse to see patients. They claim...which is what my rheummy told me...that when they see a medicaid or medicare patient they are basicly doing charity work and giving patient services for free. There actually is a large medical center that will see this lady but she refuses to make arrangements to get there. She does not drive and the medical center is 30 miles away. I am in rural Texas so there is not public transportation. The medical center use to run a shuttle bus from the various satellite clinics to the main hospital and clinics but they stopped because people were not using is and the cost of fuel. I will have to try the ice idea once I am cleared to start back on Humira. I am still coughing, stuffy and hourse...I really need to make an appnt with my PCP to see if I have pneumonia. I feel stuff gurgling around in the left lower part of chest. Its hard to tell if its the tubing to my port or something else. Normally you can not feel the tubing moving around...but lately with all the coughing I have been doing...my chest is pretty sore!! Where the tubing goes through the muscle wall is sore as is the port site itself. The Humira is working...though it is not lasting. I am reall thinking I need to go to once a week.
