, looks like your research uncovered the answer to my earlier

question about tunnel erosions. Thanks (I think!).

,

I went to my rheumy last week and we were discussing the value of the

MRI. It started when I

asked him why he hasn't done a sed rate or CRP since our initial

visit over a year ago. He told me that he only

uses them for diagnostic purposes. So I asked him how he knows if the

treatment is effective

and he said he goes by when patients tell him. He's seen sed rates in

the 100's and patients

tell him they feel better, and then he's seen normal sed rates where

the patients are in agony.

He uses the MRI for monitoring progression. He also says that erosion

are showing up long before

a patient has symptoms. It was an interesting visit.

That's very interesting, a.

Do you know what sort of MRIs or what type of machine (does he have his own

portable unit?)? How often does he do them? What about the cost?

Not an MD

I'll tell you where to go!

No he didn't elaborate on what sort of MRI's. He hasn't done any on

me, but he's not looking for

a diagnosis on me. He's got plenty of reports on me. I don't know how

he deals with the insurance

or cost issue. I'll have to ask him next visit.
