Guest guest
Hi TIA, When I had tendonitis in my ankle, the podiatrist recommended ice, rest, and ibuprofin. I guess I'm using his advice (doing all three) with this stubborn problem in my dominant hand. I'm VERY grateful for fat gel pens! My rheumatologist looked at my hand twice. The firt time, she just said, " Oh, swollen! " and suggested taping two fingers together (I was on Celebrex then). The second time, she said I could get an injection, which would " hurt a lot " or try a prednisone burst, which is what she would do if she were me. I tried that, but it didn't do anything at all for the tendon-it stayed the exactly the same throughout the prednisone use. I have had two acupuncture treatments on it which helped some. I may try more frequent, regular acu. treatments. I have a very good acupuncturist. Good luck to you! Sierra P.S. When in doubt about meds, just give your doctor a call. --- In , " AnneMarie Ichiki " <amichiki@...> wrote: > > Sierra > hi, I have swollen tendons in my hands too and just wanted to ask if your > doctor suggested taking the OTC ibuprofen, or if you decided to take it? > I got a corticosteroid injection about 3 weeks ago and it took the worst of > it away, but I still get pain and acheyness (is that a word?) across the > palm. > > Driving can be painful, but I've been reluctant to take anything for it. > > TIA > AnneMarie > Irish in Japan >

Guest guest
Ouch, that sounds so painful. Hang in there. I got a corticosteroid injection about 3 weeks ago and it took the worst of it away, but I still get pain and acheyness (is that a word?) across the palm. Driving can be painful, but I've been reluctant to take anything for it. TIA AnneMarie Irish in Japan
Guest guest
The injection in the palm (in my case, inside of dominant index finger knuckle) DOES hurt! and it rendered that finger unuseable for the whole day. But it took away most of the pain. However, it seemed to take about a week to be effective, and then the pain came back, but weaker, after about a week. I think I might go in to my rheumy tomorrow and see what he says. I have Voltaren gel, but it doesn't help much. Thanks AnneMarie Irish in Japan
