Guest guest
That's Pred, the good, the bad, and the ugly. We love it and hate it. You may also, depending on dose, gain weight. You are going to just love the 'chipmunk cheeks'. But, it's a tradeoff because the pain will stay away. Hopefully you won't be on it for long. Patsy The problem is I have been feeling very edgy and irritable...Has anyone experienced this while on Prednisone? Thanks for your help. I am still FLOORED by how wonderful and helpful everyone here is. Thanks!!! Annie
Guest guest
Hi Annie Yes, I have been on Prednisolone for nearly 12 months, doses anywhere b/n 5-50mg. It has the same effect on me. I have mood swings and become really negative and angry. It is better in the smaller dose - I hope to be off it completely soon. I guess that I got by with such an understanding family. It did cause a few raised eyebrows at work from time to time though! I kept saying to myself that " It (whatever I was thinking at the time - usually nasty & negative) is NOT ME - it's the Prednisolone speaking and THAT is NOT what I really choose to believe (about whomever/whatever) " . Steroid psycho LOL :-) Good luck. Make sure that you tell those around you that you are taking Prednisolone and that this is one of it's recognised side effects. If it gets too unbearable - and it did for me - maybe your Dr might wind the dose down. Aim for the most pain relief/benefit + maneagable side effects. I love the good effects though. Shame. It's a real Yin/Yang drug. Guest guest
Hi Annierose: Yes, Prednisone is a miracle drug - we love it and we hate it. What you are experiencing, the irritability and such, is one of the possible side effects of Prednisone useage - one of the reasons we try to keep the use of this to a minimum lol. I get very agitated, very serious, cranky, and dang hungry too, when I use Prednisone. But sometimes you need it, like you do, when you are trying to switch onto a new medication. I have done the same - it is a great bridging medication. Just remember to lower the levels of your Prednisone slowly, when told to by your doctor, and don't try to stop it cold or it will cause you problems. I am very happy that it is helping you right now - enjoy it while you can - and then hopefully the medication will kick in and you will have continued relief with that. Do be prepared, though, for an increase in symptoms as you decrease the Prednisone, just go slowly, and your body will adjust to it. Best of luck - Kathe in CA --- annierose777 <annierose77@...> wrote: > Hi all, > > I have recently added Prednisone to my regime to > bridge the gap until > the DMARDS begin working. > > I cannot believe how little pain I have and how > small the joints in my > hands and feet are!!!
