Guest guest
Deb, my doc said the nodules are nothing to worry about, just annoying. I have been getting them for the past 10 years, sometimes they go away on their own. In Canada, a plastic surgeon will only take them off if they are affecting your life and this time I had to say they were dangerous because sometimes I would lean on something and the nodule would move and I could slip. The Govt won't pay if you are having them off for cosmetic purposes (which I was, they were ugly). The operation takes less than 10 mins in day surgery with freezing and no pain is felt. Good Luck with your surgery but I am sure it will be a breeze. Hugs June Subject: Re: [ ] Nodules Hi June... Yes it does sound like the same thing.. Guest guest
Thanks . Youre right, I should be greatful to get that advice when I did, but I still have a really hard time doing it. It is especially out of the question at night since I sleep all curled up. Do you have problems flexing your arm completely now? I am so glad I switched docs, as this one has been so imformative with all kinds of details like this. One of the best things she told me, that I think all RA sufferers should know is " how you feel is very seldom what is going on inside your body. " For instance, I havnt had any elbow pain since I was initially diagnosed 7 years ago. Yet that's where the most noticable nodules are, and thats where my mobiliy is becoming limited. She cautioned me about not taking the best care of yourself ALL the time, even when your RA is not too active, because you may not feel bad, but that's when major joint distruction may be taking place. I thought it was a good thing to be aware of, to keep us on our toes...so that hopefully we can ALWAYs be on our toes! --- lindayeakel <lindayeakel@...> wrote: > Hi , > > I too have a nodule just below my left elbow, had it > for 2 yrs now. > It does not bother me unless I lean on it. Guest guest
Hi , I am so happy that you found a good Rheumy. I had a wonderful Rheumy before I moved near my daughter. Unfortunately there is only one Rheumy in my area. I mean for miles around. He is okay, but not forthcomming. I have to pry him for everything and it is so hard to get an appointment,.to many patients I quess. He is so reluctant to prescribe anything for pain. Makes go through my regular doc. My old Rheumy took such a interest in not only me, but my entire family. He was so wonderful I sure miss him. Most of the time I can make my right arm straight after my meds kick in. My left arm is a different story. It stays with a bend in it all of the time. I wish I could switch Rheumies. I sure hope as my area grows another Rheumy will be available. Guest guest
How common are the Rheumatoid nodules? I have them on both forearms and hands. Do they ever go away? I walked into a nest of ground yellowjackets over the weekend and got stung 10-15 times. On one elbow where I was stung, I now have a new nodule. Today both ankles and feet are swelled up badly. So...If you're thinking of trying the " Bea Sting Therapy " ....Don't! (Just kidding!) Kathy
