Guest guest Posted October 4, 2006 Report Share Posted October 4, 2006 Hi all, It's been 5 weeks since I first injured my piriformis muscle in my rigth butt area. My neuro said I have piriformis syndrome, which means the spastic piri muscle irritates the sciatic nerve and causes pain. Since I have it, I stopped my yoga class for 2 weeks to give the muscle a rest. Then it was better so I took both yoga classes. They made the pain worse again. Last week my rheum gave me a steroid shot in my piri muscle. It helped about 5 days for the bad pain but my butt was still achy, so I skipped my yoga classes again last week. Yesterday I did one and it made my piri muscle hurt more again. It's very frustating I can't take my yoga classes anymore or at least several more weeks. I have been taking them over 3 years and they help keep my mucles limber. But several poses irritate my sore piri muscle. I try to be active because my muscles get stiff if I am not. sorry to vent.
