Torn between having her in there or reg ed room w/ aide. 95% of 3rd graders know she's in the room,so would putting in reg. ed w/ aide make it social worse? That's our spot were at. Guest guest
It's been my experience with k-3rd that the kids are wonderful, provided you and teacher are open with them about your child. When you tell them, " Hey, she's got autism, sometimes she doesn't respond when you speak to her, please don't take it personal, she can't help it and she really likes you and needs your help... " then the kids always rise to the occasion. I don't have any experience beyond 3rd grade, but friends tell me older kids are also great, just have to have peer training. I'm PennY (with a Y), and I have an 8 year old daughter and 6 year old boy/girl twins. My younger daughter has ASD. > > Hi, Donna W from Michigan. Girl & son both HFA. is 9 going on 10 & is7.
