Re: Effectiveness Loss? Nynypa

Hi Nynypa:

What kind of site reactions are you referring to? I

get some bruising at times, but have never had

anything else. Even with having myself on Enbrel and

Methotrexate, I still experience flares from time to

time when the disease gets more aggressive in my body.

I don't think it is because the Enbrel or Mtx has

lost it's effectiveness, I think it's just the way

with this disease. There is always some degree of

pain somewhere, and flares from time to time. I

continue to take my medications, and the flare will

die down again, and I will become stable once more.

Your mom should probably discuss with her doctor what

is going on. Perhaps just adding the water exercise

has caused some stress on her joints (even though it

is not supposed to, I have heard) or on her immune

system, and her body is reacting to that by flaring.

It might be that her body needs to get used to some

kind of exercising again, and once she does go more

regularly, the flares will decrease. Just my two

cents worth.

I hope that you are able to find the reason for your

mother's increased pain. You are a wonderful daughter

to be taking such good care of her and be so concerned

about her condition. Take care and healing prayers

are coming your way -

The reaction she's experiencing is a reddened area around the injection

site, slightly swollen, which itches and stings. It is about 2 " in

circumference and then starts to disappear in about 4 days.

Thanks so much for your response.

Hi:

I have never had any redness, stinging, swelling or

itching at my Enbrel injection site, but have had a

very few that were a bit painful, but this went away

quickly, and a few have left bruises.
