I'm 51, from Northern Minnesota, have been married almost 28 years and have 2 grown children. I also have 2 collies and a fat cat. I've been Dx with RA for about 4 years now, and am pretty well under control with MTX (except for an occasional flare). Guest guest
Hi, Jim here from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I'm a 51 year old high school teacher. I'm also more of a lurker.... joint pain started over Christmas 05 in right ankle, right wrist, both hips and both shoulders. All tests were negative for RA but x-rays showed arthritis in both hips and a bone spur in the right shoulder. My mother was dx last year with RA although she also tested negative. I had my right knee replaced last summer and will have the left one replaced this summer. I'm Marina. 35 years old living in Columbus area in Ohio. I was diagnosed 4 years ago with RA, FMS, Sjogren's, Raynaud's, and chronic/acute pylonephritis. I'm still fighting the pylonephritis. I just found out that it is coming back with a vengence. Just what I needed!! Well, I hope everyone is as well as can be hoped for. I keep each and everyone of you in my prayers. Guest guest
My name is Dennis and I live with my bride of almost 42 years in beautiful downtown Pritchett, TX. We have 3 grown children who have varying degrees of spine damage. I know it's not from my side of the family, so I don't know. I've had RA from 1990 after a bout of the flu, I didn't ge a flu shot! I'll never do that again. I also have Fibro, and recently have Sjogrens Syndrome. I've been bed-ridden for a couple of years, and home bound for longer. I also seem to be depressed because it's too much trouble to go out, having to load and unload the scooter and navigate through crouds with it. It's much easier to stay home and let our friends (we have none) come visit. It does get lonely sometimes, but I have my 2 lap dogs for company. Guest guest
Good Idea! My name is Corinne and I have been diagnosed with RA almost 5 years. I am 44 and living with my husband. It is a very hard disease but we have to keep going. I am in lots of pain but I don't give up. I am a musician, I am a jewellry maker and I love to entertain. My husband is very supportive and I love him truely.....but I have to say that having good friends is also very special. Friends that truely understands. I don't message here much because my hands are always paining...but I do read them all. Yesterday I had a biopsy on my breast because we found something there two weeks ago. I have to wait a week for the results......I am crossing my fingers that it is ok. I do love to meet new people, especially those with the same disease as I have because they truely understands.... Guest guest
Corrine, I can empathize with you on this. I've had two needle biopsies, and the second time it did turn out to be breast cancer. But it was caught very early, so everything turned out okay. I know about the waiting around for the results, though. It can be nerve-wracking. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Guest guest
My name is Laurie and I've just joined this website tonight. My husband is 32 and has just been diagnosed with RA. He began having symptoms after Christmas and in three days went from mild right ankle pain to full body immobilizing pain. We're pretty floored. We have 2 preschoolers, so you can imagine the stress. Thankfully 's inflammation and pain went into remission right away with prednisone and Mobic. We think he's having a flareup and he's begun taking the Mobic again. He is also on plaquenil, but only for a couple weeks now, so I don't think it's really kicking in yet. He has been having some dizziness with this med. Is that common? Does it go away as your body adjusts to the med? This is all so new to us--we are pretty clueless. Does anyone know of any support groups for patients/spouses in the northwest Arkansas area?
