Sierra,

I'm going to start on Minocin today and cut her MTX dose in half this

week. Next week I'll cut that in half also and then finally have her off it

altogether.

What kind of antibiotic therapy are you on? Is it helping and did you have

to have IV antibiotics before oral? My rheumy just gave me a prescription

for oral Minocin 100 mg, 2x/day. Is this what you take?

Hi Lori,

I've been on minocycline 100 mg, 2x/day for one month. I visited a

wonderful rheumatologist today for a second opinion. He has

participated in research studies involving minocycline. He said that

full efficacy usually takes 6 months. Like my other rheumy, he does

not believe minocycline works by killing an active bacterial

infection.

Hi Lori,

Other than a little dizziness and spaciness the first week, I haven't

had any side effects from the antibiotic. I'm feeling pretty well,

but that may not be from the medicine yet. The doc I saw today

stressed how slow-acting the drug is...

Has your daughter had tummy troubles?
