Hi Lori:

Boy, does this hit home for me right now! I am also

in the midst of a nasty flare up, but only for about

the past four days now (hopefully will not last too

much longer.....). Anyway, when this happens,

sometimes Prednisone is the only recourse, and I would

definately call your doctor and ask for a short burst

of this or maybe a Medrol pack. I have not reached

that point yet, but if this lasts for two weeks, I

will be calling my doctor too.

When these kinds of flares hit with pain, stiffness,

and fatigue overwhelming, hobbling, and barely being

able to do what you need day to day, it really does

begin to affect your emotions and you can get even

more draggy because of that. I do the usual, hot

showers, heating pad, rice socks, take my pain med

(Ultram ER which barely takes the edge off), and rest,

rest, rest because laying down or sitting reading is

about all I can do. There are no quick fixes that I

know of, unfortunately, but if you hear of one, please

let me know!

With the company coming and all that goes along with

that extra stress, calling your doctor and discussing

Prednisone or the like would be your best bet. It

always gets me back on track pain-wise, and gives me

more energy as a plus. I will be keeping you in my

prayers that this flare eases up on you, and you get

to enjoy your company. Take care - hang in there -
