Lana, sounds like you're doing well so far. Will you have any assistance to help make sure the baby is in the proper position once you start into labor? I was breech born. Probably accounts for my erratic behavior

Guest guest
LOL! She's been head down for weeks now, she has seemed to prefer that position the entire pregnancy (thankfully!) I'm seeing a midwife for the delivery, so if any repositioning is needed, I'm sure they'll address it. -Lana Lana, sounds like you're doing well so far. Guest guest
Part of me wants her to come soon (I'm dying to meet her), the other, probably more realistic part realizes that I haven't lanolized the wool covers or washed the prefolds yet (takes several times to fluff them up), so I'm diaperless!! I have a huge list I scribbled up last night of things I have to do before she gets here... I'm really glad I'm nesting otherwise I'd probably never get it all done! -Lana Woohooo! Guest guest
is a great sleeper! =) But I was always exhausted because of the c-section and complications. Hopefully Lana will be blessed with a good sleeper too and with a good/easy birth! She certainly sounds more relaxed than I was =). Guest guest
Thanks, Kathy. =) They are talking c-sections for any other babies for sure but I think if I can get on my NT diet better and for sure totally off the sugar my babies will be more normal size and I may be able to deliver? I was under a tremendous amount of stress, besides the usual from being pregnant, and we were living with my parents while we tried to buy a house and they always have some kind of cookies or chocolate or whatever around. It is hard to beat a sugar addiction when you are seeing it all over the place and it was all I could do to keep it under control and to limited amounts of “healthier†sweets. The first 4 months before I moved in with them I didn’t have ANY sugar! Guest guest
Thanks, I sure hope she is a good sleeper! I go in for another visit tomorrow so we'll see if I'm stuck at 2 cm or if she's coming early. I've been trying to take it easy but I just have too much to do! Prefolds are all washed now. They seem to have shrunk up nice - I've read they have the best absorbency after 6 washes, but twice will have to do for now. I'm ordering some snappis now. I plan to lanolize the covers tomorrow. I got the hand-me-down car seat and base all clean just now, gonna try my hand at installing the thing tomorrow. (I gotta put the cover through the wash tomorrow too.) You might be able to call me relaxed but I'm more grouchy than I've been in years! I'm working very hard not to bite anyone's head off but just about everyone is driving me nuts. My mother especially... telling me I should just deliver with an OB at the local hospital (despite her admitting she traveled an hour to deliver me), among many, many other things. -Lana -- " There is nothing more useful than sun and salt. Guest guest
I feel for you Lana! At least you aren't living with them. My mom drove me crazy about not wanting the epidural and all this other stuff. She was totally against a midwife etc though I did try to explore it. I was considered " high risk " though because of my weight and autoimmune disorder. I was grouchy as well, was so tired the last two weeks. Didn't feel like I could get any sleep. Baby was too heavy if I laid on my back and my back was hurting so bad from spasms and the horrible bed we had that I could only lay on my side for so long. I started trying to sleep in the chair in the living-room but everyone was so darn noisy all the time. =/ The next baby we'll be in our new house (that we enjoy now!) and it's so nice and quiet out here. No little untrained, unruly always yipping jack terrier mixes harassing everyone, no mom nagging me constantly (when she's not sleeping which is 20 hrs a day =) ), and no super loud tv all the time when my dad and brother are home. OOOh and I have strawberries, blueberries and a melon with my name on it and no one to steal em! =) Well except who has decided to skip " baby foods " and go right into solids. He loves his grassfed, raw string cheese we get from our farmer and just about any fruit I let him have. No berries yet though he does pout awfully well! I'm jealous too! I want to do cloth diapers but didn't get to buy any beforehand so I'm having to come up for the money to purchase them AND the expensive 7th generation disposables he's using right now. You went with wool covers? I can't even decide what to buy when I do get some extra cash. Most of my wool covers were under $7 shipped - whereas brand new they cost at least $20 not incl shipping for most brands. The few cotton/PUL covers I picked up were even less at approx $3 ea. Well worth hunting through the forums: they also have AIOs, AI2s and Pockets among other things - but the covers/prefolds seem to be the cheapest option. -Lana
Guest guest
Awww, sorry! We had to move back in because of money constraints and getting a mortgage was taking too long. Was supposed to be for only a couple of months.. Turned into 8! was 4 months old by the time we moved. Thanks for the tips on the diapers. I will look into that. he does ok with the disposables but I hate all the waste. And as he gets bigger we have more and more bags of soiled diapers going in the trash. Guest guest
I'd like to suggest looking into using a TENS unit for labor. I bought one and it helped a lot. I've loaned it to several friends and the three that tried it all said it helped them. I bought the Elle TENS unit from some British website. It cost $160 and was worth every penny. It took about 10-14 days to arrive in the US.
Guest guest
Hi, Once a co-worker of mine had on a TENs unit & amp; said how it relieved her pain associated with lupus. & nbsp; She asked me to to touch the unit with my finger, it felt like a very uncomfortable electric shock to me, she relplied it makes her pain go away? Guest guest
Thank you, but even if I had the money I probably wouldn't buy it. I'd like to have the experience for what it is, without modifying it out of fear of pain. I'm not getting an epidural or other meds to dull the pain either - and I was thrilled to find a place that doesn't even offer them (so they're not being pushed on me constantly). I am looking forward to the massage my midwives tell me about though. -Lana On 6/12/08, penciloid <hoppythetoad@...> wrote: > > I'd like to suggest looking into using a TENS unit for labor. Guest guest
My visit went well, still at about 2 cm - I go back every week from now on. The midwife said the little one is on the small side, either that or really low. She poked around and the LO kept dodging her. hehehe. I was measuring perfect up until week 32, my last visit before I moved. Now apparently I'm measuring a bit on the small side. I can't help but to wonder if the little one will have a growth spurt like they're expecting - in my experience with dogs, being fed well resulted in far more even growth. Anyway, if she's not up to par by next week the midwife would like to do another ultrasound. As much as the LO dislikes them, I really would like to get another peek in there. Got the car seat installed (it *barely* fits in my car), the car seat cover washed (still drying though) and I've started on my " hospital " bag (we're going to a birth center). Wheeeeeee. I'm off to shop for some of the stuff on the " bring this to the birth " list. -Lana
