Hi All...

Thanks for the supportive letters. I am unfortunately well aware of DVT's as

they have taken the lives of two of my friends...both in the hospital after

having knee replacement surgery. One was a very dear friend of mine, she was a

nurse at the hospital she passed away at also!!! She had gotten gastric bypass

surgery and lost almost 150 lbs, and looked wonderful. Her left knee was no good

so they did a replacement on her and she died during the night while she was

recovering from a DVT. The other was a fellow ex-football player who died when

they stood him up for the first time after his surgery. So needless to say when

they told me what I had I was just a little scared. Luckily they caught it soon

enough and the Lovenox shots I am giving myself seem to be working really well.

My leg is almost back to normal size today, and I feel a lot better.

Yesterday when my wife went to pick up my meds from the CVS near our

apartment, she got me a styptic pencil and some extra band aids, and liquid band

aid just in case. Especially since I love to cook, and use very sharp chefs

knifes all the time!!! Luckily I am pretty good with my knifes and seldom nick

myself. But I am prepared.

Well...again thanks for all the well wishes and prayers!!!

Wow,

that's pretty scary to know your friends died in the hospital from

dvt due to knee surgery. I just assume they could conteract whatever

the possibilities of dvt are while in the hospital. it's the going

home after surgery I was more concerned about. replacing hip joints

would help me to be more mobile. yet after PE last year, I am not

just running to increase chances of another clot.

I too am on blood thinners and am not very disciplined with going to

doctor so frequently to check bloodwork. It requires close

monitoring.

Sorry you had to experience dvt and hope you are more disciplined

with blood thinner than I am. Great news that your leg is looking

much better. sounds like you are on your way to a successful

recovery.

Continued success with recovery.
