Jeanette, I'm sorry to hear this news. I'm curious -- when was this last biopsy that showed cirrhosis? When would the doctor have told you about it, had you not come in following the accident?

Keep working. We all have bad days. Progress not perfection. Good

for you for hitting the gym this morn. Remember that what you eat =

70% of your progress. Here's a kick in the pants for ya;-)

Yep, you blew ALL six weeks of hard work in just two short

days...NOT!!! You ate bad for 2 days? You get one free day, right?

So you blew ONE day! One day in six weeks is a great record. Eat

squeaky clean until your next free day and hit your 10's! This isn't

even a blip on the screen.

Ugh. This process is so frustrating.

Well..... as for me..... I'm focusing on other things, not on losing

weight. I have so much stuff to do and so many things taking my attention

that I'm not focusing on getting healthy. I need to find a balance because

this doesn't have to be an all or nothing endeavor. There is no reason I

can't remodel the house and eat healthy too. I just need to take a few

extra minutes to plan. I need to have the house well stocked with good food

that is easy to prepare. I have healthy meals planned for the next two

nights then we'll have leftovers for two nights. Sat. I'll be at first aid

training all day so I need to plan dinner accordingly.

Last Sun. I took Lynn, my kindergartener, shopping to pick out paint and

stuff for her room. Dh took Vonn, my 3 year old, grocery shopping. Ugh!

They filled my safe house with candy and chips. I need to get my exercise

by kicking my husband! I never have tempting stuff in the house. If I buy

candy I get Dum Dums or something that doesn't tempt me at all. I never buy

chips for home. Sheesh. is usually pretty supportive but he blew it

this time. At least he came home with a ton of fruit too.

I've been working so hard that I felt kind of ripped off that I didn't lose

any weight this week. On Friday it worked great turning on the sprinklers

while I laid sod and dug out junipers. The heat didn't bother me at all

even though it was 97 degrees. On Sat. I cleaned out the garage for about 6

hours. I was totally exhausted. On Sun. I went shopping for 4.5 hours and

all that walking should have done some good. Unfortunately my eating has

been counteracting my activity. :(

I checked the Sun. ads and no VCRs were even shown, just DVDs. I guess I

just have to hit Best Buy and pick one out. I'm going to put Lynn's

furniture in our room while I paint her room and lay new floor but I'll make

sure to put it where it won't interfere with doing videos in there.

This is the first week of summer vacation and we have an activity every day.

One problem with summer will be playgroup every Mon. We'll head to a park

from 9-11 and then head to a fast food place for lunch when the park gets

too hot. Mcs has new salads which is great. Burger King doesn't

really have anything healthy. The veggie burger would still be served on a

white bun.

Today we're going to see dh's new office and take him out to lunch. The

place we're going has healthy choices but not low carb choices. I'm going

to enjoy lunch and then have a healthy dinner of garlic lime chicken,

brocoli and a salad. I'll serve dh leftover white rice too. Dh's

department moved to another location and his commute increased from 50 - 60

min. each way to an hour and 20 min. each way. Ugh. He changed his hours

from 8-5 to 7-4 to reduce his commute. It's nice having him home at 5

instead of 6 but it will take some getting used to to start dinner earlier.

It is really going to make evenings less frantic since we'll have extra time

for dinner, bath time and getting the kids to bed.

Well, I guess I'm back to my usual rambling posts. :) I can't believe the

kids are still asleep. Lynn woke me up at 6:15 due to a bad dream. She

crawled in bed with me since had already left and she finally went back

to sleep. Unfortunately I couldn't go back to sleep. Argh. I was up until

after 1am designing her loft bed in my head. I do tend to get just a tad

obsessive when I'm in the midst of a project. I need to carve out time to

make **me** the project!

Sometimes the FAT loss is not on the scale.......look in the mirror, measure

yourself. You may have lost some fat with all the good eating and walking

and chores......and built up some nice lean muscle that will burn more

calories as time goes on.

Alot of times, even though the scale has not moved, I find myself in a

smaller size.

I can even notice the loss sometimes in the rings I wear.

And have you ever felt the joy of putting on a pair of socks and not feeling

strangled around the foot?

That is FAT loss.........it's just that the scale only measures pounds.

Wishful thinking but I haven't been controlling my eating. :( I would love

to see some nice lean muscle but it is hidden by my bad eating habits. Ugh.

Losing weight really shouldn't be so tough. We all know what we're supposed

to be doing. Why can't we just get busy and do it?

I've lost 30 pounds since August. I've been stalled out for months but I do

still notice the difference that those 30 pounds have made. My thermometer

has been reading 97 but it just hasn't felt that bad to me. I've even been

thinking that my thermometer must be broken because it doesn't feel that

hot. I would love to remove some more of my built in insulation. :)

Ok, this time I'm really going to get off the computer. I've got lots of

chores to do today. I'm trying to plan a fun summer for the kids with lots

of activities but they know that mom is going to have to work some each day

too.

> Aren't you the one giving us a hard time about weighing too often? :)

I'm a typical mom - Do as I say, not as I do. ;)

> Ugh. This process is so frustrating.

Yep. At least this morning I'm down another pound, so the scale is going

back in the right direction again. Eating those leftovers last night I

realized she also heavily salted that pork roast, too. At least for today,

nothing I have planned has any appreciable amounts of salt in it so things

should get back to normal.

>I have so much stuff to do and so many things taking my attention

> that I'm not focusing on getting healthy.

Are you at least buying Sugar Buster legal stuff to have on hand for when

the urge to eat healthy strikes? Did you find a brown rice that's edible

yet? How about the pasta - have a few boxes of semolina or whole wheat ones

in those newly painted cabinets?

> Dh took Vonn, my 3 year old, grocery shopping. Ugh!

> They filled my safe house with candy and chips.

Did you watch Everybody Loves last night? The episode where he told

his brother to be incompetent so his future wife will do things herself so

they're done right rather than her asking him to do things all the time?

Maybe your hubby did the same thing - bought all kinds of useless junk food

so you won't send him to the grocery store anymore. :)

>At least he came home with a ton of fruit too.

Yeah, but too much fruit is no good, either. Just 2-3 pieces a day should do

it because of the sugar content.

> I've been working so hard that I felt kind of ripped off that I didn't

lose

Were you drinking enough while working in that heat? If not, your body is

probably retaining all the water it can get. Try drinking more and see what

happens.

>Mcs has new salads which is great.

Watch those dressings! I read on another list that some of them have more

calories than the chicken supreme salad itself.

Burger King doesn't

> really have anything healthy. The veggie burger would still be served on

And it's loaded with mayo, too. Your best bet, if you *weren't* doing Sugar

Busters, would be the plain baked potato that 's has or one of the

low-fat sandwiches at Subway.

>his commute increased from 50 - 60

Ugh is right! Henry & Ed both commute that length of time on three trains

each way, so at least they can veg out and either read or listen to music on

headphones with eyes closed. Are there any options for him, like carpooling

or mass transit?

> Well, I guess I'm back to my usual rambling posts. :)

I, for one, missed them.

In my case, it most likely is water weight. I had recently had to switch

back to a very low salt diet because of water retention (I had been on it

since age 11 or so), and with the food served at hubby's aunt's house, there

was enough salt on one plateful to make a salt lick for a horse! LOL

> I can even notice the loss sometimes in the rings I wear.

When I start getting water bloat, this is usually the first sign, and this

weekend I could barely turn my ring on my finger again. My feel also start

to swell, as well as my eyes.

> And have you ever felt the joy of putting on a pair of socks and not

feeling

> strangled around the foot?

Not for many, many years, even after I had a 46 pound weight loss and I

stayed the same size with hardly any change in my general measurements. My

weight gain and loss is usually in those weird places that don't affect

clothing sizes, like in my legs, the space in my back between the shoulders,

my hands, my face & chins. I'm wearing the same size now at 260 as I did

when I weighed 220 and 292. The hips get a little snugger as I gain, but

it's always the same size.

LOL Last night was even better. He called me at 8:30 pm to say they're going

bowling. 2 am they're still not home so Ed gets him on his cell - they're in

the city and on their way home. 3am comes and he's still not here so now

it's my turn to call him. Gee, ma, we stopped to eat!

He finally wandered in around 4 am. After Ed's call they *left* the city and

went about 10 miles away to a greasy spoon burger joint for a bag of

burgers. I know the place - real seedy neighborhood but delicious burgers,

about the size of a White Castle and topped with slabs of Velveeta cheese. I

haven't been there in over 25 years, but he says the burgers are still the

same.

How am I going to survive his young adulthood?!?! My hair is already going

gray! LOL

> Sorry to hear you had car problems. That's always a pain in the butt.

It's an old car, we bought it used, and knew about some *other* problems it

had, not the ones this guy claimed we did. I wish we could find our old

mechanic from the blown up gas station. We found one of the guys, but not

the one we liked. One of these days we'll find out where he went.

Janet,

So sorry about your bad weekend. I do think they should have at least offered

for you to go to the marriage and let you be the judge of whether or not you

could handle it physically, however, what's done is done so congrats on that

one! Your second son, my goodness, sounds like he has his hands full with that

wife. I am sorry about jail and will pray he gets out quickly. It sounds like

she is a master manipulator. My mother was like this and these people are very

dangerous because they will go to any lengths sometimes to get their way. My

mom attempted suicide and had two nervous breakdowns in an attempt to manipulate

my dad into staying and he still left her. I cannot say I blame him for going.

She is still to this day a real piece of work, but then again she is an

alcoholic as well. I hope there are not children involved as that will make it

so messy, but hopefully your son can move on soon to a better life. I hope your

week goes much better and just know that

there are people out there who understand and sympathize with you. Do you know

if your son's wife has a diagnosed mental condition? My mom is bipolar with

depression being her main component of the disease now. Well, good luck. Hope

your hubby feels better soon too. Take care and stay well.
