placquenil and nausea question........

Hi Everyone - I HAVE RA.........

Can I ask if anyone is on placquenil and did

you have nausea and stomach issues that resolved in time?

Well - I need a replacement medicine. Since being off of

Methotrexate - I need a subsitute ! I wanna try placquenil

again. First time I tried it, I suffered extreme nausea and

stomach pains for two days and I stopped it. But if anyone

out there can tell me this is only a temporary reaction, I

will be willing to try it again.

Hi there,

I've been on Plaquenil for about 4 wks, not sure if it's helping my

pain or if I'm in remission naturally, but I'm pain free right now.

Had a shot in my elbow last week and I'm good to go.

As far as side effect on Plaquenil, I had some diarhea the first day

on two pills per day. So I went down to one a day for a week and

then upped it without any problems. I also take MTX and Celebrex.

I didn't see the eye Dr. first, but am going next week. My bad, I

just never made the appt.

Hi Dawn-

I took Plaquenil for about 2 weeks and never had any relief from the

stomach problems. My doctor didn't seem to think I would ever be able

to take it. I was totally miserable- could barely lift myslef from

the couch I was so sick by the end of the two weeks she asked me to

give it.

I had similar issues with Methotrexate, but only on pill/shot days. I

need to find something else. I've been off meds for several months

now and I'm beginning to worry that I'm doing damage.

Hi --

Thanks. I had the same reaction

to placquenil and just like you I also have the stomach issue. We

are in the same boat by being off meds for several months.

I gave in to low dose prednisone cause I couldn't take the

pain. I know it's gonna be short lived but it's so hard.

If I find anything that helps me, I will let you know. I'm

searching dilligently.
