Hello all!

Does your child know how to ride a bike??? My daughter Sophia will be 12 in May

and it is something we still struggle with. I have been asking FVSRA (Fox Valley

Special Rec) to bring this program to our area for a few years and it looks like

they might actually do it! Check it out at www.losethetrainingwheels.org

FVSRA has contacted me about gauging interest. So, if any of you live in the St.

/South Elgin/Aurora/Geneva/ Randall Road corridor (or even if you don't

but would be willing to drive out here for a week this summer) and would be

interested in having your child participate, please let me know. You can respond

here or email me at jessica@...

I don't know dates/cost/location yet but I know they are working on a grant to

keep the cost down. Obviously, it is open to residents and non-residents but it

might cost more for non-residents. They are working with local park districts to

see who could physically host it and I know South Elgin has shown interest.

There are some requirements:

Minimum 8 years of age

With a disability

Ambulatory without an assistive device

Able to side step quickly to both sides

Able to wear a properly fitted bike helmet

Minimum inseam measurement of 20 "

Maximum weight is 220 lbs.

Able to attend all 5 program days (75 minutes each)

If you are interested, please email with the name and age of your child by

Thursday Feb. 7 so I can turn in a " count " to FVSRA!

Thank you!
