Guest guest
Rick, Sorry for your pain and long-time diagnosis. I don't have much experience, but it sounds to me as if you need a rheumatologist along with or instead of your primary doc. There are meds that will slow the effects of the RA. Don't stop looking for answers. Suzanne from PA
Guest guest
I second the motion. As your primary care DR to recommend aa atheumatologist or ask your firends if they know of a good one. Good luck. I don't know what the " 5 years " is about. mom5023@... wrote: Rick, Sorry for your pain and long-time diagnosis. Rick, i suggest you ask him/her what that means. I personally think that's a crock of poop. If your hands and knees are swollen, then the RA is already affecting you. If you cant get a definate answer from this quack i suggest you seek info from another doc. hugs hope you feel better soon. Not sure about the Ibuprofen, i was put on prednisone instead of it. Guest guest
It means you should find a rheumatologist now, that give you something better for the pain, and to prevent future damage from the RA. in WI Rick <rocket9244@...> wrote: hi .im a newbie to ra.just got diag with it a month ago.im 43 male and live in omaha nebraska.i went to dr prob starting in 1995..with complaints that my hands/back/knees/neck were always hurting..they said its just old age settin in lol..so i waited a few years with the pain..finally 1 month ago a new dr took xrays and blood tests..the xrays showed nothing..although you can see my hands/knees are swelled up..the blood tests showed very high RA on a scale they said im at the top .so they gave me ibuprophen 800 3 times a day..thats 2400 mg of this stuff...it helps a little i guess, but i also take prilosec for acid reflux and ulcers..so is the ibuprophen gonna give me more probs then its worth?.any way thanx for letting me join this group..oh ya the dr said it will be from 6 months to 5 years before this ra affects me...what does that mean??..any and all responces to this posting will help..thanx again..you can email me or add me to messenger if you like to..rocket9244..rick.
