Can anyone say ROAD TRIP! It's only about 3 hours away from INDY. Maybe you all could get with some other groups as sort of a regional get to gether!

I want to extend an invitation to each of you to consider attending an upcoming event, A Night of Art & Blues, benefiting Research Down Syndrome on Friday, May 11th (more details below). In my spare time, usually late at night, I have been working on organizing this event with a professor in the Mendoza College of Business here at Notre Dame who is also the father of a little girl with Down syndrome. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for research that will treat cognitive impairments in people with Down syndrome and ultimately lead to enhanced life opportunities and greater independence.

Research Down Syndrome, https://researchds.org/, is based out of Chicago and was started by an ND grad and his wife who have a little boy with Down syndrome. They fund the Down syndrome research initiatives at a handful of institutions. There is some AMAZING progress that is being made in this field right now, and it has us excited about the possibilities! I've attached some information that will explain the science in more detail.

It’s also shaping up to be a FUN event. Here are the highlights:

Location is O’Brien’s in the new Compton Family Ice Arena on the campus of Notre Dame (hockey and ND fans will LOVE this!)

Music by the Oblates of Blues (very funky)

Emceed by Brit Conway of FOX28

Premium cocktails/beer/wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres all night

Silent auction

Original artwork by people with Down syndrome (I’ve seen some already…it’s impressive!)

Exciting packages (weekend condo on Lake Michigan, Keurig coffee brewers, ND football tickets, “farm to table” dinner for 10, etc.)

Raffles, door prizes, art for sale, etc.

Really exciting news about the latest research developments (this will NOT be boring, I promise)
