Guest guest
Don't know how I missed this, Kathy. I posted it last night. It's such a sickening and unbelievable situation.Shari ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, Jan 13, 2012 at 7:46 PMSubject: [DSALF] Child with Intellectual Disabilities Denied Lifesaving TransplantTo: DSALF Several DS groups posted this heartbreaking blog post today on their facebook walls. A young girl is being denied a kidney transplant at CHOP by a doctor who says her quality of life is " too poor due to her diagnosis of Mental Retardation. " Amelia's parents are rightfully outraged and need support to address this injustice. While this is NOT a child with Down syndrome, the situation could affect any of our members at any time and we would seek help to bring attention to the situation. This is a global disability discrimination issue so our voices are important.
