Guest guest
GcMAF and Prevagen treatments help speech...being used for patients by some DAN! doctors. ("Prevagen which is, um, jellyfish goo and its sold OTC at Walgreens")GcMAF is indicated when a kid has elevated nagalese ("Nagalese levels are elevated when the body is not effective in recognizing or fighting viruses." ) and chronically low Vitamin D, plus a high neopterin level (one of the parameters on a urinary porphyrins test?)learned about it here <http://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/2012/04/24/speech-finally/>(but originally was posted at the Einstein Syndrome DS parents group, our kids also often have autism, and/or apraxia). Guest guest
I have a son with DS, and another little guy with autism. We did the GcMAF for 5 months w/our son w/autism, but the gains didn't stick. It is in such an experimental stage right now as the main doc doing it (look up Jeff Bradstreet's blog) really doesn't understand how it is working and in the beginning he said it was a compliment to those doing stem cell therapy and now he's saying try it with prevagen. It was originally thought to help fight viral loads by utilizing Vit. D better but then Dr. Bradstreet thought it might be working by blocking certain calcium channels. It is expensive and it's a weekly shot in the child's arm, but I think it's definitely something to keep an eye on. -Crystal
