Allergies maybe? this happens every year with my daughter. She will be 10 this Summer. Alma  " Be kinder than necessary for  everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle "

Our daughter is 3 and just started going to school.  The teachers mentioned she is tired and puts her head down in class.  She is sleeping about 11 hours a night, takes a nap and her supplements are the Nutrivene products, vitamin B and vitamin D.

Has anyone found an " energy booster? "  Any thoughts would be appreciated.ThanksMaura

I give Alyssa Claritin 24 hour.  Its non-drowsy. I give it her first in the morning. That way it wears off during her sleep.  I feel so bad for her sometimes.  Her body is working double just to breathe. I make sure to remind her teacher to have her take it easy and  maybe an extra break here and there. Alyssa works really hard at home and school. Its hard to see her get frustrated because she is pooped out. Alyssa is very good at keeping her tongue in her mouth. When I start to see it, its the first sign her allergies are elevated. Then we just give her medicine as needed.

Remember that our kids need to have their thyroid check yearly. You probably already do this...but it might be a possibility.

Maura, you mentioned she just started school, it is so normal to be exhausted!

It takes a lot of energy to take in all that new stimulation. It is very

draining for many kids. It too

K my sensory neurotypical kids a good few weeks to adjust and when they were

going to school full days it took more time. In fact after a long weekend,

Mondays were exhausting. never could get enough sleep. They would go to bed at 7

and wke up at 6am.

I think my last reply got swallowed by the Internet, so forgive me if I am

repeating.

Has your daughter been tested for sleep apnea? This could cause problems with

her energy levels. The incidence of sleep apnea is very high in people with DS.
