Hi, My name is . I am the mother of a beautiful little two-year-old girl, Madelyn, who has Down syndrome. As a new and active mother in the Down syndrome community, I have found numerous wonderful resources geared toward helping me through this transition. However, I have found that there is limited research geared specifically towards helping fathers through this transition.

I have been working in collaboration with Dr. Marshak and Dr. Kirsten Murray on a study aimed to better understand the adjustment of fathers of children with Down syndrome during the first three years after their children’s births. Dr. Marshak is a professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, co-authored Married with Special Needs Children and has spoken at numerous Down syndrome support groups. Dr. Murray teaches at the University of Montana and has extensive knowledge in marriage and family counseling.

I am hoping you will assist me in inviting fathers you may be in contact with to volunteer to participate in this very valuable study that will help us learn more about their personal experiences during this time of their lives by forwarding this email, or by visiting this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FathersStudy

Thank you for any assistance that you are able to provide. If you have any questions or I can be of any support, please feel free to contact me at FathersStudy@....

 Sincerely,

Graduate Assistant
