Guest guest
Our DS association has a pretty positive and helpful site, www.dsaa.info it is for our area but has a lot of good positive kids stories and welcome to Holland on there as well. We are trying to encourage them to keep there baby. There are Christians but are leaning towards adoption. We are telling them if they can't keep there baby we would be willing to adopt him. They seem to like our home study and family bio we sent them. We only sent it when they asked for it. Please pray about this. " My friend has adopted 2 children with DS through CHASK, but she isn't part of any online DS groups or local DS groups. Can anyone recommend a good article or webpage that I could recommend that she share with this couple. Something that wouldn't overwhelm them with too much info, but that would encourage them to keep their baby. Thanks!

Guest guest
this little book is fantastic: beautiful pictures, short quotes from parentsFaces of Hope: A Family Album http://www.amazon.com/Faces-Hope--K-/dp/1617390828/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1328736713 & sr=8-1 here is a quote from the introduction(makes me cry every time i read it;-) " The lasting thought that i have is that children with Down syndrome are here to remind us how simple life is. To remind us of what really matters. To love and be loved is the core of human existence-everything else, all the gauges of what we call success,is self-imposed. These special children help us rethink what we perceive as a successful life. They help us to understand that it is actually much simpler than we realize. Children with Down syndrome should be celebrated. Each time a child with Down syndrome is born, the paper should read, " Another Golden Child is Born. Guest guest
The blog "Noah's Dad" has a daily one minute video of what life is like raising a baby with Ds http://noahsdad.com/. Also Kelle Hampton has a nice website about life with her daughter http://www.kellehampton.com/. I would also highly recommend giving them this book - Gifts: Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives by Lynard Soper and Martha Sears. Guest guest
How about the book Gifts http://giftsds.segullah.org/ I wouldn't recommend many of the DS books I have read since they can be overwhelming with medical "possibilities". If she is a Christian, God will help her make the right decision and if that angel is meant to bless another family, then that is ok to. Guest guest
Dayna, Your website is beautiful! So uplifting and encouraging! THANKS! Such gorgeous pictures! Are you the photographer?! The only thing that would make the website better is a picture of my handsome dude! is 6. How old is your Luke now? I don't have contact info for this couple, but I've sent the link to the site to my friend who does have contact info with them. I told her she could give my name and email addy to the couple if they would like to contact me. I also live in OH. She doesn't know where in OH this couple lives. And I don't know when their baby boy is due. Thank you again! > > How exciting! > Please send them my website--created to encourage new and prospective > parents. > www.alifeworthliving.us > Blessings, > Dayna > > > > > -- [DownSyndromeInfoExchange] need for prayer and encouragement for > couple expecting baby with DS > > > I received this message today from a friend: > > " I have been in contact with a couple in Ohio who is expecting a down > syndrome baby.
