Which Roche vaccines are you referring to? Is there a link for this case?

Interesting timing for Roche since there was just another widely publicized lawsuit won in the UK by parents who claimed there son developed autism after his vaccines. I guess since Roche and other vaccine makers are exempt from lawsuits over the damages vaccines have caused, they can go on to make money on treating autism and other conditions caused by themselves.

I believe the vaccine you are referring to is the MMR vaccine. MMR is made by Merck & Co., Inc. Not Roche.I am no fan of big pharma, and have plenty to complain about the costs of my daughters medications and the FDA allowing it to continue. It is a love hate relationship to say the least.HOWEVER, I applaud the efforts of Roche because I do not think anyone has made any significant investment to study the causes of Autism, much less start an effort at treating some of the causes. Lets not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Especially when Roche did not cause the problem, and is being unfairly accused here.

fwiw, I believe that vaccines are safe for  some kids..if given responsibly(not as currently scheduled) BUT  i also believe that there is a significant subset of kids who have a genetic predisposition to react poorly to vaccines.

It is a hard subject to discuss by way of email, but I hope that we can do it respectfully and without personal attacks. Fact of the matter is that there is no proof either that vaccines do or don't cause autism, so parents have to do their own research and follow their gut as to what is best for their child. And people in 'opposing' camps have no right to judge a parent who is following their sincerely held convictions.

Ok to try to convince them otherwise with facts, but personal attacks don't solve anything, and will result in the person being put on moderation. We have gone a really long time without any fights on this listserv..let's please keep it that way.

I have also researched... It's true, vaccines are causing autism and even death. We each need to do research, do not follow blindly. Mom of 2 with down syndromeSent from my iPhone

Wish I had time, and many are strong believers in vaccines and I don't judge them for it. Go onto VAERS and look at all the adverse affects reported yearly. I don't post much because my youngest w/autism is with me most the day. We lost him after vaccines after his 2 year immunizations and I was left with a child who could no longer speak and was smearing crap all over my walls...I am not alone. One day, maybe I'll get to spend time on the yahoo groups and FB and other places to display my intellectual abilities, but for now, I'm sure parents can and do their own research on vaccine and drug safety.

I agree, Kathy. I hope research is being done to find the genetic/or whatever predispositions are present in those who react to vaccines. That would help parents choose for their children.

To argue that the vaccines be eliminated, other statistics should be considered. Small pox was a deadly disease that has been (or almost) eliminated because of vaccines. I remember going to school with children who had had polio. I had whooping cough, measles, mumps as a child. Many school children of that time period did because the diseases are highly communicable.

The statistics that should be looked at are: how many complications occur as a result of these diseases vs. how many complications occur from the vaccines. I don't know the answer to that. I've been trying to remember...from a long time ago. Seem to remember that a few boys who had mumps as a child were sterile. Also something about pregnant mom's having children with birth defects who were exposed to measles during early pregnancy. Wonder how many died when small pox went through a city. How many children died or were unable to breathe or walk with polio. Believe that the vaccines have reduced some of the problems caused by actually having these diseases.

I'm thankful that in this country we have the opportunity to choose to get the vaccine or not. Those 'not' taking the vaccine benefit because most people are vaccinated and are not exposing the unvaccinated to those diseases. That's why I believe that we need to find out what the predispositions are....so parents can make informed decisions.

Just some of my thoughts. Best wishes to all of you and hope you have a blessed day today.
