Guest guest
This must be the laugh of the day, right? You doctor must be a shoe-maker. Tell him to ask for a refund on his med school tuitions. alblau999 <alblau999@...> wrote: Hi, Something I forgot to mention about my visit this past Tuesday, 03/14. I thought that with an RA factor of 167 I had RA, but the doctor told me to put my hands together and interlock my fingers. I could, and he said that proves I don't have RA. That's a nice, simple test, but I feel like it's a little too easy.
Guest guest
BIZARRE! I trust this is your PCP and not a rheumatologist. I suggest you get to one, quick! Guest guest
I've had RA for more than 25 years and my hands are NOT affected. I often disputed my diagnosis because of this. Plus that I'm seronegative, so that gave me more reason to dispute my diagnosis. I've heard of doctors that refuse to diagnose RA if it hasn't affected the hands, but all doctors I've been to insist I have RA. I don't dispute it anymore. Your doctor needs to learn about RA. There are many people that have no hand involvement. a On Mar 17, 2006, at 7:50 PM, alblau999 wrote: > Hi, > Something I forgot to mention about my visit this past Tuesday, > 03/14. Guest guest
Funny thing about my hands, the signs of RA are in my right index finger's knucle only. Can I interlock my fingers??? Of course I can. a Papola <a54@...> wrote: I've had RA for more than 25 years and my hands are NOT affected. I often disputed my diagnosis because of this. Guest guest
From the beginning, I've wondered about my RA as to the effect on my joints. It has done little damage to my joints but has been a real terror in my soft tissue, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. In my hands, I had terrible times with the muscles, but very little with the joints. X-rays don't show any damage to them, but the swelling is always present between the joints. In the rest of my body, I've experienced the same thing. Only in my knees have I had real damage and severe swelling in those joints. I have taken Gout meds for that, and it helped a lot. Your doc sounds like my last Rummy. If any blood test shows one point more than normal, he would take me off the med that may be causing it, and I had a miserable time before firing him and finding a real Rheumy. One lesson learned! I didn't get a flu shot the year I came down with a bad case of the flu and a month later the RA started. If I hadn't had the flu, my future would have been much better. Since then, I've had a flu shot every year and a pneumonia shot once in a while. Dennis Re: [ ] RA test? > I've had RA for more than 25 years and my hands are NOT affected. Guest guest
My RA Dr. was sure I didn't have RA either, judging by her initial diagnosis either. She showed me her hands, and what RA has done to her, and I have NO physical evidence of RA what so ever. I have had it for about 8 years now. When she got my blood work back, she was shocked! I have the most agressive kind of RA you can have! She called me a freak it is so bizaare. I have all the aches and pains associated with it though, that's for sure. I am now on Humira 1x a week, and it is working wonderful! I have been on Prednisone from 5 to 10 mg. per day for about 7 years, and my bone scan came back incredibly good! She said my bones are perfect! She still can't believe it! I am now off the prednisone, and only on Humira, and I am doing fine. I was scared to death to go off the Pred. because I thought I would be right back to square one with the pain, but thank God I'm doing really well. So, long story short, each person is different in all ways. =) Sandy > > > Hi, > > Something I forgot to mention about my visit this past Tuesday, > > 03/14.
