Hi Doris,

I think this lettter was actually meant for me

(), it gets a little confusing around here with

all the people replying. Anyway, the name of the shoes

are MERRILS. The spelling may be off, but thats how

their pronounced anyway. They didnt have the Merrils

in my size at the store (Hershys), so we found a very

similar pair that are called " Quests " at a sporting

good store. I wouldnt worry too much about getting

ahold of Hershys in particular, which is in the

Detroit area. The store was pretty small and sizing

was limited. I bet you could find the same brands

online or in stores near you. Call ahead and ask about

Merrils, Quests...and Ive heard CLarks are good too,

but Ive never had any.

I'll do a quick check online and see if I can find

any sites for you.

Believe me, I know how important this search is!

This site has a selection of these shoes. I'm not endorsing it as I've

never bought from them, but thought it would give you an idea of the shoes

available

Well, New dear friend, I understand. Though I havnt

had to deal with vision loss myself (which I am

contiunally thankful for), it seems ironic that we got

in touch through RA. My occupation is a Blindness

Rehabilitiation teacher. I specailize in " mobility "

(helping people learn to use canes, dogs, etc.)...so I

certainly understand poor eyesight. and by the way~

you seem to be doing wonderfully! I hope that your

doctors can keep you stabalized in that department (so

that you never need someone like me). In the meantime

you have you have RA to contend with, so keep yourself

as well as YOU possibly can! We will help as much as

we can.

Much

love,
